In fairness to the UK Police, they can't be expected to accomplish much since you don't even allow them to have guns.

Which I am thankful of. Big smile

And Riot Police can have firearms.

Rob,that really sucks!

My advice to you is to get a dog.We have a large, very protective dog and beware of dog signs posted on the fences around our house. When we leave the dog is in charge, and no one has been stupid enough yet to try to break in.

My wife would rather be robbed again than get a dog, I'm afraid.  We had two cats once, and they were the extent of her magnanimity toward pets!  Say hello to Rommel for me though.

Our house is alarmed now though.  I need to take my wife shooting and get her a gun of her own, especially if I am going to be working outside the home as I may well be starting in August.

Tasha will blow somebody's brains out if they so much as take a notion to harming one of the children.

LOL So your wife hates dogs huh? Rommel says "hi",he thinks it's very cool you remembered his name! LOL

I would really recommend a firearm if you are cool with that.Get your wife familiar with weapons, maybe take her to a range and let her shoot some different pistols to see what she's comfortable with. But for home protection you can't beat a good double barrelled 12 gauge. It's simply point and shoot, don't have to bother with aiming much. And most people with enough sense are pretty leery of shotguns, they can do an incredible amount of damage.

It goes without saying, cause you have kids,to keep everything locked up and unloaded.I have a gun safe, and made both my children take gun safety courses when they were young.

One of my many room-mates years ago had a 150lb. Akita. It was a bit of a dicey neighborhood. We walked it around the neighborhood making sure people saw it, and strangely our house never got robbed while most of those on our block did.

Shoveling that monster's leavings was no fun, though.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I have a 60 lb English Bulldog LOL
He's a little tank. He's really friendly, but is also very protective and can look very menacing (and sound it too) when new people come to the door.

I have two cats, and the prospect of them not helping potential thieves is rather low...

We've got 3 dogs. They'll bark like crazy but once someone is in the house it's like they got a new friend.

We have been contacted by the DA and now have the name of the defendant and his accomplice, both of whom are in custody.  The DA also has our TV and can release it to us after getting additional photographs.

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Tavon Triamaine McPhatter.

Oh, and here's his Myspace.  He hasn't earned any badges yet.  I, for one, am shocked by this.

And a lady friend of his, Kimberly Titus, is named as an accomplice.

You should give him one of your albums.
It might help pass the time in prison.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

No, no- it's only B&E and larceny.  He doesn't deserve to be punished for mass murder.

Damn, that guy still uses MySpace? No wonder he was caught so quickly.

By the way, what does this mean?

Race:BLACK
Ethnic Group:AFRICAN
Confused

Even if we accept the traditional difference between the terms, what the hell kind of ethnicity is "african?" Africa is quite a large continent with thousand of "ethnicities" from what I know....

T, I was asked what nationality I was in my job interview.

Stunned, I responded: "Uh...American."

They clarified the questioner wanted to know my ethnic background (unlawful as that is to ask), and I responded.

Many people don't know the difference among nationality, race, and ethnicity.  They are three different things.  One you can completely change, one you can partially change, and the other you can do nothing about.

Just wait until they (job interviewers) start trying to gauge your age...it's illegal but is there up front.  Can you tell I'm unemployed again and looking for a gig/Ermm

Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.

Rob, Rob, Rob.  You answered that question wrong.  They wanted to know if you were a US citizen because apparently we have a rash of Britishers coming over and taking our jobs that have a good imitation US accent like Dr. House.  I'm afraid the guys in black suits will be kicking in your door any minute now to deport to either somewhere south of the border or, heaven forbid, Canada. (I hear it's cold up there and you subjected to the evils of socialized medicine.)

Happy Thursday!  I'm off to work soon.

Actually, they were interested in the fact that I have Native American blood on both sides, since our school is 1/3 Indian.

That was for an earlier charge.

The DA says the guy will mostly likely take a plea bargain and get at least 8-10 months.

After asking around, the defendant was a well-known student at our school.  He had been tased at a football game.  Teachers on my hall had him as a student before.  One of my students is his cousin.  This cousin told me, "Yeah, I don't f**k with them because him and my aunt be stealing."  So his mother was in on this too.

Hope he doesn't come out of prison, go back to school, and get me for English.  Stern Smile

Well, we have our TV back.

It seems like the accomplice may be required to pay restitution for the other stolen items.

That would indeed be a boon to us.
