I know that the San Antonio Spurs would also play some DT during their games. Don't know if they still do or not.

A 1/2 game from being mathematically eliminated. At least it took till September for the Buccos to be taken out of it this year.

The Tigers just finished sweeping the Indians one series after sweeping the White Sox. Great time to get hot. I believe that the magic number is now 12 for the Tigers over the Indians. I think that it is 13 over the White Sox. 19 games to play.

Looks like the Brewcrew doesn't want to win the NL Central these days.

The Buccos score 3 in the eighth to push the Cards back in the NL Central and the wildcard race.

10 wins in a row for the Tigers with Verlander pitching tonight. The last time the Tigers won 10 in a row was in September of 1968 on their way to winning the World Series.

They're hot, but I still can't say they're anything better than just the 5th best team in their league. |

I used to know where to find a head-to-head by team comparison but I'm not sure where that is any more; and really doesn't mean all that much anyways.

I hope the Jays have it in them to play spoiler to the BoSox. More of what they did to them last series, and much less of what occurred at the game I attended this year.

That would be nice if the Rays could pass the Red Sox. It'll be tough though. They still have 7 games left with the Yankees.

In the 43 years in which the Tigers were stringing together zero 10-game winning streaks before this week, the other 29 teams won 10 or more in a row a combined 146 times. Every one of those other 29 clubs -- 14 of which didn't even exist the last time the Tigers won 10 in a row -- had at least one double-digit winning streak in that span. The Orioles, believe it or not, led the sport with 11 of them. And even the Pirates did it eight times. So which team has now gone the longest without winning 10 in a row? That would be the Royals, who last did it in 1994. |

Wow, the Sahx are slipping and the Rays went on a tear.
Talk about great timing! They are actually close to catching them, if the Sahx fell out of the playoffs omg that would make my day! Yanks seem to be trodding along. oh and some news about some verlander guy, going for his 23rd win no big deal.... |

Yankees > Red Sox > Rangers > Rays > Detroit Yeah their record is comparable, but they play in suuuuuuuch a weaker division. |

Detroit went 4 and 3 against the Yankees. This means little since they played the first 3 games of the year against each other, and haven't faced each other since early May. I think that the Tigers match up well against the Yankees, and probably have better starting pitching than the Yankees, especially if they don't have to use a 5th starter. The Tigers were something atrocious like 5 and 25 when the 5th starter pitched before they acquired Fister. Tigers can take them in a 7-game series, but I will concede that the Yankees are probably the better team (after all they spent more money).
Detroit went 1 and 5 against the Red Sox. The Red Sox with a healthy starting pitching staff are probably a better team. The Red Sox of September are not. Tigers can probably take them in a 5-game series with Verlander pitching twice and hoping that Fister, Scherzer, or Porcello are able to steal one. This series scares me.

Tigers beat the White Sox 5 to 0. 23rd win for Verlander. Magic number is now 4. 11 consecutive wins for the Tigers and coincidentally 11 consecutive wins for Verlander. Edited by rushfan4 - September 13 2011 at 22:34 |

The Tigers score 3 in the 9th and 1 in the 10th inning to beat the White Sox 6 to 5. 12 wins in a row. The magic number is now at least 3 and could be 2 with an Indian loss tonight.
