Well, I guess this cements her place as the Janis Joplin of her era.

Whoaa that was a shocking thing to read. I've never actually heard a song from her but of course know about her drug problems etc. Tragic news to say the least.

A tragic loss. Hope she finds the peace she didn't seem to find living in this world.

A very sad day for fans of black music like me.

Why is it so often 27 years old?
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I'm surprised it took her this long to do herself in.

Tragic news indeed. I was not a fan, but I found her fascinating somehow...

Sorry to say it, but I can't argue with this at all. Extremely sad waste of a young talent, no matter how much I disliked her music.

Another victim of the music industry in my book.

Didn't much like her as an artist, but always sad to see someone climb onboard the rush express to self destruction. And she had talent, there's no denying that. A tragedy for her, for her friends, family and fans.

It is sad indeed that she never found hapiness and that we will never get another album like this^  which was truly brilliant.

Spooky.
Maybe 27 is an individuals most reckless age in terms of risk, still young enough to think you are immortal and the liver just rebounds too well for some individuals to take any notice.....Spooky for sure though.

currently watching on TV a performance of hers during Eurockéennes in 2007 : great voice and excellent music (ska, reggae, doo wop, soul, gospel), but three glasses of whisky within half an hour Confused

I wasn't a fan either, but I respected her musical talent. So sad she left so early. RIP
