Not every free agent signs with the Yankees you know.
Usually only if the Yankees already have a superstar at that position in question and therefore don't really need him.  Although, that hasn't stopped them in the past, aka A-Rod is now a 3rd baseman.  Otherwise, it is pretty much rule of thumb that the Yankees will be the highest bidder and thus get their man.

Does it happen much more than any other randomly selected team? Yes.

Is it immutable? No.

This is a sidetracked discussion anyway. Felix is not going to the Yankees this year. There's a higher probability of the Orioles winning the World Series this year.

ESPN was talking about Pittsburgh possibly trading for Carlos Beltran.

It would make sense. They could also look at Pena. I think they should really be interest in adding a SP.

Didn't hear that but the Mets must want him gone if they are willing to pick up his salary. I see that the Rangers are interested in him. I would hope that the Buccos don't give up too much to get a 34 y/o OF.

Last month I heard Beltran possibly to the M's.......we need the stick for sure. But at 9 games under .500 and probably 13 games out of first...now does not make sense.

Well they already announced that they will raise ticket prices next year. They haven't raised prices since 2003.

Back to back shutouts of the Reds. Either the Reds are bad or they got some underrated pitching.

Wonder if that's connected. I would guess not actually.

Uggh.  A Toronto fan interfered with a line drive, which cost us a run.  Good thing it didn't make a difference.

Carlos

Yeah, the Buccos (I still have my money on Luckos, at this point, by the way) could use an expensive .200 batting average in their lineup.  If the Pirates bring in a name player I will be shocked and, actually, think it would be yet another bad decision.  Who are the best names out there?  Pence? He's a money disaster in a couple years.  Beltran? Pfffft, old and injury prone.

Time always wins.

Tigers make a good trade for Wilson Betemit, and immediately placed that human strikeout/pop foul/error machine Brandon Inge for assignment. The Tigers improve by subtraction, as a street sign would hit for better average than Inge (currently hovering around .170).

Royals had a good finish tonight and of course Bruce Chen pitched well.

Thank God for Alex Gordon though, guy is eventually going to be an all-star.

Well the Buccos lost today but they took the series . I believe that it was the 12th that they won this year., Quite an improvement over last years team. Even with all the injuries they are still winning games.
