Love the game! Still play the game! But as far as MLB All-Star game.......that's what SportsCenter is for. As well as NFL ProBowl, heck I'm lying, I don't watch ANY highlights of that fiasco!....But I will watch the NBA All-Star game, cause they can show off.

Exactly. Baseball is still the sport that holds #1 in heart but the all star game is just terrible. I don't watch the pro bowl either. Edited by JJLehto - July 12 2011 at 16:36 |

Oh, as for the fan..
So yeah, someone just died recently trying to catch a ball (in front of his year 6 kid none the less) and someone almost falls off trying to catch one now? It's just a ball, and from the HR derby so it's even less of a big thing. Sheesh people. How far over did he go? |

Pretty far. His friend and brother basically caught him by his arm and leg and the rest of him had gone over.

When the All Star game was here in 2005 I got a ball from the Celebrity Softball game and from the Future Stars game. (with Verlander and Zumaya pitching for the Tigs). The home run derby was kind of a pisser, because they moved us from our seats in right field for the media, and made us sit out in left field. Other than Pudge almost all of the home runs were to left field. Abreu probably put 10 of them in our seats all by himself.

Jesus...how fun another death from falling in a week would've been... Speaking of all skipping, how ironic we were just talking about Jeter being made out to be god by the media...they seem be giving him serious flak for skippin out on the all star game. That's including here at home even! In the core of Yankee country. I mean a lil messed up but how many other all stars skip out? HE is getting extra flak for it? Suppose that's what happens when your Jeter. Some say "what about the kid who gave him the ball!? Shouldn't he go to the game!?" I don't see why. Besides, that kid is being made out as god as well. A GREAT move but not like the Yanks didn't offer him some pretty sweet consolations |

That would suck since it's their stupid fault and not the stadium/team/baseball's BUT you know someone will sue. As sad as that is, so MLB is gunna have to protect themselves. I'm expecting the family of that guy to do so, and these teams/MLB have some big time cash as well... Edited by JJLehto - July 12 2011 at 16:55 |

Yea that is true......Hamilton will be named for sure.
Just saw all the smack that Jeter is getting for skipping 'da show'...... Even the players are bored with it.......Heck I suspect most look at it as a time to go home and spend sometime with the family, take a quick vacation since the kids are on summer break.......Don't blame them.

I'm not really sure they have a case. The action involved the fan voluntarily jumping over a safety device to grab a ball.

Exactly.
As you said, it happens every game...how many times is it tossed to a kid (or someone that gives it to their kid) it's a nice little gesture. Would be a shame for Hamilton to be sued and even worse if Selig made it illegal to do. 10 feet on your head could be enough to do it for sure.
Oh probably not, just saying hope there isn't an over reaction to the threat of it. You never know, we could get one of those batsh*t cases where "guh I was never told anywhere not to reach over" Edited by JJLehto - July 12 2011 at 17:19 |

Yeah I heard that one the radio earlier. WITHOUT MAKING THIS ANOTHER DISCUSSION...it is pretty sad. Something as extraordinary as this case would be exempt you'd hope. |

Yes, I'm quite aware. Like I said, let's leave that sh*t out of ONE thread for once but a game show is something you do to hope to make money, even a lottery I can understand the claim but sheesh it was a one sided deal this time! Just saying it is sad. Maybe he should've put it up for auction Gunna get taxed try and get a million for it at least! Edited by JJLehto - July 12 2011 at 17:27 |

The Yankees will probably pay the taxes for him at least.
