But that's not  a reason to give him flak LOL NO ONE will ever reach Rose's record. I still find it kind of disgusting he'll probably never make the HoF...

All I know is only 28 people ever in history have hit 3000 and assuming his pace of the last 7 years continues, and I'll even low ball it, he'll be top 10 after just 2 more full seasons. Errors, sure...but his everyday fielding is fine.
I'll take all that Cool

Verlander will wipe that smile off of your face tomorrow.

I know, the man will eat us alive. LOL

Unless Francis pulls off an incredible game, we're dead meat.

Hey if our offense is on like it was tonight, even Verlander might have problems, officer. Big smile

But then again our pitching...

You need some Yankee caliber team spirit. Just a small bit and you'll be setting fires at the slightest disrespect!

I'm mildly freaked out that I've liked them as long as you've been alive, makes me feel old lol

I know your pain, that period of 8 years when we didn't win a World Series really hurt Cry
heh

But nah I'm lucky I've lived with this awesome time period, not like my  Dad that spent the better part of his life with them being not so good to alright. I will fully admit I was spoiled because of my youth and their huge success. Embarrassed

He's a terrible fielder.

Yes it is disgraceful that Pete Rose isn't in the hall.

Congrats to Jeter. I'll leave it at that because any more and I'll be foaming madly at the mouth.

I think Rose will make the HoF someday. It's just going to be posthumously.

I'd feel no sympathy in making Jeter pay for the ball.  That being said, I'd probably take the first offer he makes.

If Rose makes it then Shoeless Joe Jackson needs to be put in as well.

I don't think that he offered up anything, I believe it was all the Yankees doing. If you see the picture of Jeter and the guy Jeter looks like he doesn't even want to be there. Just my humble opinion but he looks bored.

I still don't get how he's a "terrible" fielder.
I assume, Pat, you'll give me that "he's statistically the worst fielder in the history of baseball" ?

I'd like to actually see this, I've only heard it mentioned.....
Besides f**k the numbers, you don't watch him play every day. He's fine. Not the greatest, not great, but fine.
Doesn't deserve however many golden gloves he has but he's a fine fielder. Get's the job done day in and day out. Maybe he has how many errors and...whatever numbers they found but he gets it done almost all the time. At the very least what else can you ask for?

For the record, the guy gave it to Jeter...he didn't even ask for anything though, I think, the team did pay him for it.

As for Rose making the HoF one day, I really don't see it happening. It may smell a little bit but the all time hits leader...just feels so wrong without him in there.

On that note, Yanks win 1-0.

Great pitching duel, both threw complete games.
CC was brilliant as always and the lone run came on a huge error on BJ Upton, that just gave Cano 2 bases. Then a pitching error let him walk to home for the only score.

So weird. Also havn't seen Jeter make an error as big as Upton's in.....well I don't even remember Tongue

Tigers win 2 to 1 over the Royals and move into first place and the All-Star break. Clap  Verlander was very good once again, and this time the Tiges gave him 2 runs of support and that was all he needed.

Too much Captain hate, all of a sudden, for my tastes.  It's nice of the jolly fellow who caught the ball to give it back and for the Yankees to give them all that they did.  If I had caught it I probably would have put it up for auction, depsite that he has been the leader of my team since I was just a wee lad, because I'm poor.  Though, if Jeter could somehow magically transfer some of his "game" with the ladies to me (he doesn't need it now, anyway) then a deal could be struck.

Seriously! Confused
Im talking Philly and even Red Sox fans would give him credit and say he was a great player and/or person. I'm really  shocked by Scott!

Auction really? Could just give it to Jete still in return for money. I mean sure, you may not an unbelievably outrageous price, but it'd still be pretty outrageous LOL
It's too close to me, I couldn't auction it. Though I'd have no problem giving it to him out of the kindness of my heart and accepting what they give!!Big smile
Though if you want some of his "game" you might as well auction the ball. $$$ may be a big help for that
