The Tigers fired their pitching coach on Sunday and then have proceeded to score 1 run in the last 20 innings against the Angels. I think that they fired the wrong coach.

Yeah kinda sucks that our dominant 1-5 staff turned into a 1-3 staff pretty quickly. |

Dusty Baker has got to be wondering what had happened to his pitching. Reds have an 8-0 lead and end up going 12 innings to win it.

Sorry Truthy, but the Tigers really needed this game (and this series). Especially with Cleveland winning on a walk-off homer over the Jays.

It didn't surprise me when I saw the highlights that Frank Francisco pitched in the 9th.

Travis Snider looks like a changed man since being called up after an early season demotion. 5 RBIs last night. It seemed like he swung at every pitch he was given at the beginning of the year.

They've been scaring you in those ninth innings so I guess it's ok. |

Yanks win.
Jeter gets his 3000th hit, 1st ever to do so in Yankees history, and goes 5 for 5 on the day. Glorious victory! Edited by JJLehto - July 09 2011 at 15:20 |

Eh, whatevah. Never been a Jeter fan, it is funny how many sportscasters have termed him "classy" in the past couple of days. That would never be the word that I would use for him.
Damn. I'm not surprised but Furbush has turned out to be worse than Coke as our left-handed starter. Time to bring up Jacob Turner. And thank you Stooge's avatar.

I am kinda surprised, even some die hard yankee haters I know (and going to school PA found a treasure trove of em for me) gave Jeter credit.
I only ask because I've not heard anyone say that....why do you seem to imply he's the opposite of classy? He certainly has done nothing wrong in any way. His personal life is sterling clean, and he's never an ego trip, which is nice. Oh yeah it's all a number, the "W" is far more important. As a Yankee fan though gotta feel a little bit, especially since Jeter is the name I personally associate with the team, as do most my age. Damn your hatred is impressive, even Jete is not spared Edited by JJLehto - July 09 2011 at 23:54 |

Also internet high five to MoM, since the Yanks may be the only thing on Earth we agree on! |

A few years back I played Fantasy league baseball with a random draft and I was assigned Jeter. One of the players offered me the moon for him, and it took me about 2 seconds to accept it. I definitely got the better out of that deal. I don't recall who I got for him now, but it was a no-brainer for me.

Ah so because he's on the Yankees. Least you admit it
Though not matter how much I may hate the Sahx I grant their players credit... Major Ego? Sorry, not sure about that one. If so can't be any more than the average. I will grant, he's not "the greatest shortstop ever" like many Yankee fans think. He is a good fielder but that be it. |

I do give him credit for staying with the same team his entire career, which is a trait I find admirable. However, in his case it really isn't much of a feat, given he plays for the team that would pay him the most anyways so there is no reason to leave. I suspect my dislike is as much the media's fault as anything else, as the way the media talks he can walk on water and turn water into wine.
I did get a chuckle during the Tigers' game today. They were talking about Jeter's 3000th hit, and then they talked about Peter Rose and his record number of hits, and how Jeter was the anointed superstar who was to surpass that record. 3000 hits is good, but he is never going to come close to Charlie Hustle. Although, quite sadly he will pass Mr. Tiger in the all-time hit leaders list.
