It's like a real life version of "Spot the Differences." Unhappy

On a whim, we decided to treat ourselves to breakfast, pay a bill, visit the library, and shop for our son's 4th birthday party as a family.

Arriving home, I tried to unlock the door and realized someone had graciously done that for me.  The door frame and doorknob receptacle were damaged.  I ordered my family to wait by the car and I grabbed a nearby hunting knife and quickly checked our rooms and closets.  The back door was open, so I suppose they took off through the woods.

I surmise there was only one thief: He had removed a pillowcase from our bed, filled it with my wife's laptop and digital camera, and lifted the TV.  None of my music equipment was removed.  Nothing else was touched (although my computer monitor was turned on).

The police arrived and did the necessary paperwork, dusted for prints, and so forth.  The dusting revealed whoever had robbed us was wearing socks on his hands.

We don't have much, and it's a shame that someone is willing to steal what little we do have.  Ouch

Wow Rob...I'm really sorry to hear that. Ouch  Hopefully they can catch the guy who did it, even with the setback of not having prints.  Sending best wishes to you and your family.

How awful Rob, probably no chance of catching the guy.

That sucks Rob, but good news is that he didn't break in while you were home or the family was home without you, or that you didn't walk in on him.  That is usually when bad things happen.  I spend so little time at home, I am always worried that I will come home and find that somebody broke in and stole whatever precious material items that I may have.

I know how you feel Rob, happened to us about two years ago.  A terrible feeling.  I wish I'd have caught em, would have loved to have dropped em, maybe pulled the golf club out of the trunk.

...that moment you realize you like "Mob Rules" better than "Heaven and Hell"

We're going to be vigilant in checking the local Craigslist advertisements.

I'm not sure if thieves have wised-up about hawking merchandise at pawn shops (since there are databases they use to flag stolen merchandise), but it's just one more thing we can do.

My wife's laptop is password protected and Jolly Rancher purple, so if there's any hope of getting something back, it's that, but that could just be wishful thinking.

I need a drink.

Our son doesn't understand.

Shocked  "We have to find the TV!  Can you help me?"

Can't blame you there

So sorry Rob, glad it was just those few and it wasn't even worse but still sickening to know it happened to such a good guy. Cry

I met the guy in the who came out of my flat with my TV. In the police interviews later that day, I claimed a total blackout and got my GP to confirm various mitigations. No charges was pressed against me although the guy had a very rough ride down the staircase and out of business for a very long time.

That sucks, my total sympathy. I came home from work years ago to find my place empty. It's a great way to lose faith in the human race.
