I bet the art featured on the song is the kind of thing like they did on BCSL where each song has a unique little art piece to it. I think they're smart enough not to have such a sh*tty photoshopped picture as their album art. Anyway, the album is still a few months away. They have plenty of time to tweak and make it look... good.

This sounded, aside from the keyboards, more like a Symphony X track than DT. I can literally see Russell Allen performing this. Not really a bad thing in my book.

I was hoping they were going to put out something interesting.
This new track is pretty boring, however.

that's what I thought on first listen too. But then I listened again, and then once more, and it sounded awesome. I'm going to try and see how it is while driving Besides, how many times has a prog song sounded boring on first listen??

I really liked the new song. If this is any indicator; Train of Thought was their focus on metal, and this album will be their focus on prog.. Excellent.

I was actually going to say this. It kinda has the same structure as an SX song. I think it's a return to DT's roots. Btw, I'd love to see DT and SX tour together.

-There's no space in the mix. God, remember when Images and Words and Awake had some depth in the mix and It didn't feel like everything was at the same level with no EQ at all? All my upset.
-Bass presence...yes.
-That is some of the worst artwork I've ever seen. Jesus Christ tell me that's not real.

Heaping helping of "meh" all around from me.
Mangini's fine. The sound is ok. Labrie's voice is fine. There's just no real melody or even a riff that identifies this song compared to all the other DT tracks since...well along time ago.
Art work is no worse than the kid on Change of Seasons.
What happened to the Black Clouds photoshop with the starcrotches? That's what I want to see on the cover.

You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I like Petrucci's guitar tone, at least.

It was terrible, and hardly prog at all apart from the first, and last two tracks. I hate that album....

Same here, except if SX did this the song would be heavier and there would be a gazillion guitar arpeggios.

Exactly. And the mix is somewhat strange.

Just listened to the song and I thought it was pretty good.
About an 7.5, 8/10.

Overall, I love Octavarium. Obviously, the title track is classic, but overall I think it's much stronger than anything since then.
