Well, it's less heavy. Some cool guitar work, but it just seems pretty decent.
Is anyone else confused by the album cover? I just don't get it.

I found it to be a huge improvement over the last album.

Good points -
- Not as 'heavy for the sake of being heavy' - No growls - More keyboards - LaBrie's voice sounds good - Overall more coherent
Bad Points -
- Over long - The mix seems way off - Can't think of anything else
Me likey
We shall see. A single is not representative of an album.

The mix is so bad, that's strange

Pretty good, typical Dream Theater. Agree that the mix seems of at times.
Nothing surprising but nothing disappointing either.

I think it's what I was expecting, more prog, less heaviness, great guitar work (as usual, love the intro), more keyboard input and more harmonic and guided, DT taste on the overall, cool track... I'm really positive about all these. Not a single, it's just a first track... love it really...

The artwork is...not good.
Fortunately, the music was excellent.

On first listen I give it a 9/10. It sounds like they returned to their older sound on this one. Can't wait to hear the rest!

I'm sure it's been said 100 times, but why the hell are people rating the album already. 1/3 rated 1* and 2/3 rated 5* (sigh).
Is there no way to ban rating until the release of the album, or closer to the date?

The artwork sucks. The song is good although it sounds too much like Rudess/Morgenstein project.

Highlight them and at least bring them to the attention of admin in the Reviews Reporting Thread.

I like it! It certainly sounds more Proggy, which I expected from the name of the album. 'A Dramatic Turn of Events' certainly sounds a lot more 70's prog than 2011 metal!
Will have to hear it a few times more to form a more honest opinion... but that will wait for the album release, otherwise by the time the album comes out I may have lost interest in this song.
As for the artwork, I seriously don't think they would use that as the album cover, so I have no problem with it.
Overall (based on two listens) I give it 4/5.

I listened to it 3 times, and by the 3rd time it clicked. It's a very good solid song.
Some points that should be noted:
1. Their lead-off singles are usually not the best songs on the album
2. This is a YouTube stream, meaning, even on 720 it's not going to sound CD quality. I admit the drums are a little harder to hear, but then again, Portnoy had his drums mixed so high you couldn't hear much besides the guitar.
3. The band has not confirmed nor denied that that is the album cover. (I hope it isn't)
4. John Myung is present as he's ever been!
5. The prog is back, and the METUUUUL is gone. I'm sure there's a couple heavier tracks on the album, but they're not trying to be METUUUUL anymore, for the sake of doing it. The prog and metal is more even.

So you mean not at all?
Anyway I don't think it's a bad cover at all. Just a little nonsensical.
