It's nice that you included Fusion. Would Zappa be Avant Prog by your definition? That would have been my second choice.

Italian and Canterbury.

Progrock for the slightly advanced listener .

What will come next? RIO? I don't know.

My former piano teacher had an interesting theory. He stated that a lot of people (like himself) start out with metal, then move to progressive rock, then discover jazz, and in the end listen to classical music. He himself listened to Xenakis and other ' difficult composers'. I'm sure that that's the way things go for some. Not for me, although with Italian and Canterbury I seem to be moving from prog to jazz, just a bit.

I know Devil Doll and Morte Macabre, but seeing as half of those are so obscure they're not listed on the archives and those that are mostly have 1 album and are listed under Art Rock I'd accuse you of splitting hairs, abyssy. You are the only person I know who has ever used the term "Dark Prog", so no need for tears and angry faces, just choose Art Rock and let the matter lie.

Prog Metal.

I actually prefer Prog Metal to Prog Rock.

However, I still like Rock.

Can't make up my mind between Canterbury, Krautrock, Psych/Space, Zheul, Fusion, Art Rock and R.I.O. I can rule out prog-metal and neo-prog (though one of my favourite bands, High Tide, were probably the harbingers of prog-metal, but they also fit well into "Psych/Space")

I spent almost a minute looking for the "symphonic" option.
I think otherwise my favourite is Prog Folk, followed closely by Prog Metal.

After seconds of strenuous thinking, I must go with fusion. But prog-metal and space tie for a close second because I like them a lot too.
