Bump

Yanks ended a 6 game home losing streak last night. Against the Mets who despite big injuries and not really being that good...have been scrapping along impressively.
Derek Jeter got SB #326 tying him for first in NYY history, and I'm love Curtis Granderson. He's really getting comfortable and his swing is superb right now.

I heard of that Jeter record. Didn't Rickey Henderson have the previous high in only a few seasons work?

Before my time but quick fact check says yes: He racked up 326 SB in 4 and a half years with the Yanks. Pretty damn amazing. But Jeter's record is just a Yankee one, Henderson of course is the all time baseball leader and has over 400 more than #2!

Also, why the AL East can be one of the, if not the, toughest divisions in baseball.
Almost no room to slip and the Rays and Jays can always put up a fight, not sure if people outside the division know that!

Wow, after being down 3-1 for 6 innings the Yanks have an old school offensive explosion. Put up 8 runs, and better yet didn't do it off only home runs like this season has been! Classic yanks fashion having every batter go up and get a hit, driving the score up and up.

I'm gonna start following this thread if that's ok with you guys.

My good ol' Royals had a less than impressive but almost pulled through in extra innings... Almost... But their season this year has actually been going ok compared to recent years. If they wind up above .500 winning percentage-wise I will be happy. Next year I'm hoping for a playoff appearance.

I was thinking that Tony L was giving the Royals that game yesterday when he pulled Garcia. He had only thrown 85 pitches. It was a good game though.

Kind of like the genius of Jim Leyland having Porcello pitch a 1-hitter through 8 innings on 84 pitches and replace him with Valverde in the 9th inning with a 2-0 lead and proceed to have Valverde match Porcello's hit count with the first batter and then hit the next batter with a pitch. 2 on and nobody out. Fortunately the 3 outs came before any runs scored, but way to make a game way more interesting then it needs to be.

I knew about him playing in the lower minor leagues. Too bad he couldn't get on with someone as a catcher.

Sounds like an epically long game is currently going down.

Cinci/Philly is currently tied in the 19th!
Someone on FB said they are literally out of pitchers.

I know a game never ends in a tie, and I don't think it's ever happened....but I wonder if out of necessity they'd have to end it eventually?
Or just play to the end I say! Wimps. Start having the fielders pitch if needed! That'll surely bring and end to it LOL

I know that they can suspend a game to be finished at a later time. The fans in attendance are getting their monies worth tonight. It would suck if they cut off beer sales in the 8th inning.
