Anybody remember the stylus pick?
The idea is that the special shape of the pick forces you to really only use the tip of the pick - and the more you do that, the faster you'll be able to pick because the actual distance of the movement decreases.

extra light "cactus picks" for indie stuff and jumpyer art pop. heavy jazz picks for metal and more technical music. my fingers for folk, math rock and classic prog.

that makes sense after looking at the design, less a pluck and more a strike, wouldn't mind trying one

Heavy to extra heavy, doesn't matter the brand. Basically, if I can easily bend it, it's rubbish.
I use a pick and my free middle, ring, and pinky fingers for rhythm and comping.
