I just checked out the Marillion website and they implore their fans to buy their music rather than download it or watch it on youtube. I cheated a bit and watched some of the videos on youtube with the Steve guy. Can't get into it at all. Some of it starts to go somewhere but dribbles off. Not powerful like Fish. They should have just changed the name after the money squabbles that caused Fish to split. I also listened to some of Fish's more recent material and it seems that he's pretty much run out of steam as well. I think the best thing is a reunion but that will never happen. They provided some hope back in the eighties and fortunately I got to see them live  twice.

I'v been a marrillion fan for not that long, thanks to morrow.com for showing me "See It Like A Baby", "Neverland" "Script For a Jester's Tears" and many more, Once i read up their biography I seen it was one of these bands that had two singers and alot of people who compare them. My approach to this was to listen to Marillions transformation through the years, I own Happiness is the road, and really enjoyed it!, My next step is to get either Script or Misplaced. From what I heard from this band, I love both singers as they each have their own styles, but I still hear marillion when I Listen to H. or Fish, and to me thats what counts!Tongue

My goal when listening to each band with different members is to look at the overall career, and not comparing, but this is definatly an awesome band, and hopefully some will share my opinion, and for those that don't, to each his own, we all have opinions!!! and I thought I would share this with the prog community!!!

Yes it is. Four magazines of very high quality per year, special offers, unknown links to the band on the web, and a freebie CD or DVD at Christmas. All for the ridiculously low price of £12.

Man, I'm trying my best to stay away from anything disclosing the set list. I've learned about 5 or 6 songs (outside of Holidays In Eden) and that's all I want to know.

It's going to be a LONG week ahead.

Yeah, sorry Eric. I was too curious and pulled them off of the forum. I was going to post them in the round table, and actually had them up for a little bit, but realized a lot of people probably wouldn't want to see them, so moved them over to the Live Reviews topic section. Too much enthusiasm on my part.  If you scroll back to the previous page in the Round Table you'll see my post with *Spoiler* in the header, but there are no songs shown, I've clipped them all off and put a note to go to the Live Reviews for it. Stay away from it there.

I like a little bit more the Fish era (all their albums at these times were masterpieces but in  the H era, Marbles; Brave and This Strange Engine were also masterpieces. Steve Rothery, Mark Kelly and FIsh are all, to my opinion, among the bests in their respective instrument.

Pete Trewavas is a stellar bass player as well, and probably quite under-rated by many people. I've seen him play with both Marillion and Transatlantic, and boy does he make it look easy.

I totally agree with you and btw Ian Mosley is also a great drummer, but I think that these 3 contributed more to the Marillion sound like we know it, Rothery by his distinctive sound and his powerful solos, Kelly by the crazy ambiences he's able to make with his keyboard, and Fish by the incredible presence and emotions in its singing.

Latest e-bulletin from the boys. I'm sitting here very jealous! Let's hear some feedback from attendees:

We had hoped. And we knew it was a big ask.

And so it is with immense pride that we say: Many many thanks to all those who helped us make last week's convention the best one ever. We thank the people in our office who booked the venue, organized the chalets, sold the tickets, booked our flights, arranged our buses, put cheese in our kitchens.. We thank those who ran the museum and the merch stall. We thank the guys who built the tent, who made the stage, who put up the lights and the PA, who put our amps and instruments on stage. We thank the truck drivers who drove it all there and we thank the stage crew who knew what to do and when to help us give you our show. We thank the many men and women of Center Parcs' staff who also made the weekend experience possible.

But most of all.. we thank the people who bought tickets and then came so very far from their own countries to create a village of like-minded souls hell-bent on effortlessly creating an atmosphere and climate of good humoured faith, love and understanding which we know would have blown Woodstock and the so-called "summer of love" completely out of the water.

When I sang "the people here, full of love and comfortable in themselves" on Sunday night, I sang it not as a sentimental ideal, but as a factual reflection of what was going on before my eyes.

Amazing.

Montreal: That's one high bar to clear.. Let's try.

Love
H, Ian, Mark, Pete and Steve
