Weird Al mimics Zappa. Does this qualify as a parody?

As much as I enjoy Weird Al's song parodies, I believe his style or genre parodies are often overlooked.  Some of the best include "Dare To Be Stupid" (Devo style parody), "Mr. Popeil" (B-52's style parody), "One More Minute" (doowop parody) and my personal favorite, "The Biggest Ball Of Twine In Minnesota" (Harry Chapin style parody - it kinda resembles "30,000 Pounds Of Bananas").

Seems to be a lot from the guy I haven't heard yet. "Dare To Be Stupid" is classic. Smile

Anything by Dread Zeppelin is Great too.

Butthole Surfers - American Woman

Could be considered a parody but I think it's a cover version.

I know quite a number of parodies, but my vote of the best one goes to the track 'Monsters Of Schmock' by the Rodgau Monotones on their album Silberhochzeit, where they take the mick out of songs like Smoke on the Water and some AC/DC track I can't remember the name of now.

It's done in perfect lounge-jazz shoo-bee-doo slimy crooner-voice style. Absolutely nails it!

Not so much a cover or a parody, more of a deconstruction.

I think The Tubes are very capable of doing parodies but they are much more satirical. They did a riotous Beatles cover on the Live album; "I Saw Her Standing There" to accompany the great punk satire "I Was A Punk Before You Where A Punk".

Yah, I see what you mean. Kind of along the line of Plunderphonics perhaps.

Unless I overlooked something in this thread, I don't recall Bohenian Polka being mentioned.

How could I forget Pat Boone's Heavy Metal Favorites?! Especially when I own a copy of this! Big smile Headbanger
It's titled "No More Mr. Nice Guy / In A Metal Mood".
Cover songs actually but quite fun to listen to. Featuring Slash nd Dweezil Zappa among others.
