If we get enough people it will be a democratic act and there can be no complaints.

Could we threaten him with broken beer bottles?  It would be like our calling card.
UPS will reimburse the shipper for lost or damaged good without the need for insurance on a package.
Thanks! I thought this was the case but I was gonna check at work tonight but it seems you answered my question. Anyway, I just scan the packages or stack em' in vehicles and cans.
I use USPS when I buy music gear from the USA such as my bass and both my guitars, because they were expensive, I always take out insurance as a matter of course, but not on letters. I've not had any probs with USPS.

Tony, you might be interested in knowing that there's a signature feature you can access on the members control panel (upper left hand corner).  Click "profile," and find "signature."  Type "Tony C." in that box and it will appear at the end of all your posts automatically.  Smile

Derugulate what exactly?

As far as I know, there isn't any company offering refund in the simple price of the mailing, hence Rob's cry for a solution.

UPS will reimburse the shipper for lost or damaged good without the need for insurance on a package. I assume FedEx has an identical policy.

Maybe deregulation by eliminating the USPS and its monopoly on mail delivery.
Why?
USPS is a great service! Besides, it keeps UPS and FedEX from jacking up the prices of thier services. Not everything needs to be deregulated or defederalized

That's nonsense. For one they're cheaper in most areas anyway. Also, the USPS services cost more than the price you pay since it's funded partly by taxes.
Ok?
If they make me a better offer delivering pacages thats fine and perhaps i will use them but I don't see why that means that the USPS should cease to exist.

That means that I shouldn't be taxed to allow you to send your letters at a lower price. I don't care that it exists. I care that it's funded by tax revenue, and that law prevents other companies from providing the same services that they do.
i send lots of letters. im glad you get taxed to save me cash.
send more letters to make up for the tax if you have a problem with it

intrinsically it doesnt prevent theft but it allows for easyer discrimination between who should and shouldnt have their hand in your mailbox if you can just visually see if they have a USPS uniform. again, if FedEX wants to pay to build me a mailbox thats cool, but so far they havn't. why should the government allow private corperations to use somthing for a system that they invested in.

You just said it was for taxation. Which is it? Why couldn't the government use a private company to send its mail?

I have a good litmus test for someone being in your mailbox: If he's taking something - bad. If he's giving something - good.

The government didn't build your mailbox. I don't know what you mean by a system it invested in.
the government requiring builders to include mailboxes in neigborhoods is the same to me as building them. How can you say the government didn't invest in the USPD do you think that post offices, drop boxes, mail trucks were free? do you think mail men work for free?

Good. You've basically proved that an all-intrusive government creates a nation of lazy thieves... Clap
