Hi my name is Tony Clark. I am from Nottingham UK and I currently play bass in a Budgie tribute band called In For The kill, our website is here:   http://www.inforthekill.webeden.co.uk/
Prior to this I was in a Wishbone Ash tribute band called Phoenix Rising. I am friends with Martin Turner and his band as it happens, he borrowed my bass for his "Argus Through the Looking Glass" cd.
My fave album of all time is by a band called Automatic Fine Tuning. These guys were the first band that I ever saw as well which was back in 1976 (I think) and I was totally blown away. In fact I told my wife I wish to be buried with that album! My fave guitarists are Tony Bourge (Budgie), Paul Macdonnell (AFT), Pat Travers. My fave bands are AFT, Wishbone Ash, Budgie, Trapeze, Lake and many more. My fave bass players are Chris Squire, Trevor Darks, Martin Turner mmmm' they all used Ricky basses!
I have been searching the web without success for info on AFT for a long time and found next to nothing. Then yesterday I came across this forum with AFT members on board! fantastic!
I look forward to some discussions with you guys, although I am already on 2 other forums I reckon I can do another.
Best wishes to all....Tony C.

Thanks for the welcome. The Ricky is an old one made in January 1975. Apparently there have been a couple of Budgie tribute in the past but I as far as I know we are the only Budgie tribute band at the moment.

Cheers for the welcome, I feel at home already! Yeah I love my old Ricky. I've owned it since 2005 and got it from a guy living in North Carolina in the States.

Welcome to the forums!

Hello and thanks for your greetings!
You must try a Ricky out. There's some great basses out there but I just love the sound of these, especially old ones.
Best wishes...Tony C.

^ Great to have u aboard, a few years ago there was much debate as  to whether even include Budgie as a band. I am glad common sense prevailed and we find another active member :-) Enjoy your stay...

Really? I guess there are "proggy" elements in their music but I always thought of Budge as primarily a "rock"band but there you go. Confused Chris S ? not my fave bass player Chris Squire by any chance? He was why I bought a Ricky bass in the first place!, and other great players I liked seemed to use one Cool I hope to have a great time on here, thanks for the welcome! Cool

Hi Tony great to see you here!

I am not familiar with Budgie - but interested - which album should I try first? Or which compilation?

Bandolier is a nice album to start on.

I met Burke Shelly in a pub toilet.

Nottingham? I drove to see Dream Theater there. Rock City?

Hi Scott. Well Budge are really a classic rock outfit rather than prog. However if I was buying just one album i'd go for Bandolier it's my fave album and I suspect most fans fave as well.
Try listening to some of the studio stuff on Youtube? or give this a shot from Old Grey Whistle Test:1975 this is from Bandolier (the ending on this is different to the album by the way which fades out):
