Your Libertarian Purity ScoreYour score is...93What Your Score Means0 points: You are not a libertarian by any stretch of the imagination. You are probably not even a liberal or a conservative. Just some Nazi nut, I guess. 1-5 points: You have a few libertarian notions, but overall you're a statist. 6-15 points: You are starting to have libertarian leanings. Explore them. 16-30 points: You are a soft-core libertarian. With effort, you may harden and become pure. 31-50 points: Your libertarian credentials are obvious. Doubtlessly you will become more extreme as time goes on. 51-90 points: You are a medium-core libertarian, probably self-consciously so. Your friends probably encourage you to quit talking about your views so much. 91-130 points: You have entered the heady realm of hard-core libertarianism. Now doesn't that make you feel worse that you didn't get a perfect score? 131-159 points: You are nearly a perfect libertarian, with a tiny number of blind spots. Think about them, then take the test over again. On the other hand, if you scored this high, you probably have a good libertarian objection to my suggested libertarian answer. :-) 160 points: Perfect! The world needs more like you. ![]() Edited by The T - January 12 2011 at 13:34 |

Damn... I'm taking it. I realize my biggest problem with pure libertarianism is on the side of welfare, medicare, workers' safety and education.

I just took a rather minimal test in the libertarian website:
Your Your According to your answers, the political group that agrees with you most is... Libertarians support maximum liberty in both personal and economic matters. They advocate a much smaller government; one that is limited to protecting individuals from coercion and violence. Libertarians tend to embrace individual responsibility, oppose government bureaucracy and taxes, promote private charity, tolerate diverse lifestyles, support the free market, and defend civil liberties. False. Of said law had passed, Cheney's friend wouldn't have been shot, thus robbing me of countless hours of gokd and bad tv comedy and jokes...

At least in the gun issue, I am, as Exitthelemming would say, a converted person (though I never really had a firm position anyway, just asked questions and went with the flow.)
It's embarrasing how news networks have the photo of the lone idiot 24/7 now. What do they want? Do we really need to learn every feature of his face? Are we supposed to now be scared of every average person who walks around? "See, the face of fear. Could be next door. Specially if we allow him to be too free." Now they will use his case to promote banning of books, guns, music, and the immediate institutionalization of weird teenagers who write too much bullsh*t about death. Yes, some come to be murderers like this one, but just a very minor percentage (even among paranoid schizophrenics, one of the most delusional kinds of mentally insane people). This was an idiot. A very idiotic one. End of story. |

There are already hundreds of gun laws on the books and more laws will not change anything.
I own several firearms but I am also a strong believer in gun control. I know, and have known many people that I never want to see armed.
To legally purchase a gun you must answer "no" to every question on the application.
The Arizona shooter was able to purchase a gun because he had never spent time in a mental institution. Even though he was unstable he could answer "no" to the mental question because he was never a "mental patient".
Are there holes in the system? Of course there are.
He could just as easily have driven his car into the crowd (or, used a kitchen knife like O.J. did).
Banning guns will be extremely difficult to do and the powers that be know this.
But keep in mind the fact that the bad guys pay no attention to the law and will obtain firearms no matter what.

Wait, so would this mean that these elected officials can no longer go hunting with their buddies?
![]() Shame this law wasn't passed before Dick Cheney shot his friend. |

I wonder if this law gets passed, if the legislators' bodyguards won't be able to pack heat anymore.
![]() Oh wait, no...the royalty must have their armed caravan while parading through the streets of us dregs and animals. |

When did I ever say such a thing? The law is a joke firstly for the same reason that all gun control laws in the face of a shooting are. The bigger joke with this one is what you point out though T. This guy thinks he's some sort of royalty. He wants the peasants disarmed in his presence for his safety. He's not upset that people died from the shooting; he's upset that a mere mortal had the audacity to assault a member of government. |

Right, because Jared would have obviously been deterred by such a law had it been in place before he murdered six people, including a 9-year-old girl. ![]() Of course, such a proposal may be the result of cowardice... |

There you go Pat and Robert. Republicans are so much more for freedom than democrats? D
If they really have to do that, don't you agree that expecting mothers/chilrend/nameit would be as deserving of this protection as government officials? |
