Pretty boring record.
Know where you are coming form with that one. The version of " My Funny Valentine" at the end is a doozy,Pablo Big smile

It wasn't something I was expecting from him, I mean stuff like Unity and Into Somethin' are some majestic jazz records.

Everyone knows rock attained perfection in 1974, it's a scientific fact.

I put it down to Alfred Lion did not produce it and I am sure he would have shelved it. Francis Wolff did that one. He does absolutely "nothin special" on it. Larry that is. Disappointment was my reaction when I got it late last year.

Here is the next one to land in the player.

Everybody raves about Ornette Coleman,Eric Dolphy,Don Cherry,Anthony Braxton,Cecil Taylor and even Henry Threadgill but I reckon that Monk was really the beginning with the Avante. You can hear a tune you have never even heard of his and immediately identify his tone he had on the piano. I call it the kiddie toy piano sound and it is awesome but the structures of his comps were so different from what most of the others were doing. Love him Hug The Dizzy Reece job I had on before finished with "Round About Midnight"..............Now that is a Jazz tune Cool

Porcupine Tree Fear Of A Blank Planet album cover
At first, this seemed like another solid PT disc, but the more I listen to it, the more I think it's their best.
You are quite a fine person, and I am very fond of you. But you are only quite a little fellow, in a wide world, after all.

I'm listening to Culture of Ascent by Glass Hammer.
Their version of 'South Side of the Sky'intrigued me and have just recently purchased it via iTunes.

I used to post on here ages ago - might give it another go now that I'm a bit older and wiser.

Seen some nice bands recently - Dream Theater, Opeth, Linkin Park and couple of others.
