According to his website he sadly committed suicide at the age of 63. We’ll miss you Woolly. Barclay James Harvest drummer Mel Pritchard died in 2004. May they both rest in peace. Edited by Adams Bolero - December 15 2010 at 08:20 |

Truly a great loss; his mellotron playing was one of the cornerstones of prog's 'classic age' & so sad after all reports seemed to suggest his inner demons were under control...

A tragic loss. BJH was the first band I saw live, at the Glasgow Apollo in October 1975. RIP Woolly.

Incredibly sad news :(
I always loved Woolly's input to the band most . I discovered BJH in the same first batch of 2nd hand vinyl I purchased upon discovering what Prog was in the late eighties... Yes, Genesis, Camel, Anthony Phillips & BJH. The many hours & days spent first listening to these classics opened up new sonic worlds that eventually led me to join a Prog band myself. His music won't be forgotten by myself or my children.... and if i live long enough my children's children. Survive in Peace Woolly! |

Passed on a few days back.
(Cant believe this - apparently - wasnt mentioned here, since its all over the other forum(s) )
"Once Again" is a cornerstone lp. It was the first import lp I ever laid money aside for.
Woolly Wolstenhome, his mellotron work, his sensitive, dark, deep, melancholy-lyrics will be deeply missed.
