What’s ur fav non prog band?

 Richardh: I'm a big Tubes fan too, from way back! The live album rocks, and judging by the photos (and things I read in the 70s) their live show must have been quite the extravaganza! Quay Lude!

Ever heard the Nina Hagen (former East German opera singer, defected to West to become a punk star) cover of White Punks on Dope? (sung in German, entitled, I think, "TV Glotzer") Wild!

The Tubes Live album - splendid piece of '70s glitz; recorded at Hammersmith Odeon, London on the one show they played before being banned in London, due to the obscene antics of Quay Lude

Nina Hagen "Ich Glotz TV" I've got the original 7" vinyl single of that somewhere - didn't know she was an opera singer, though......

My favorite non Prog band whilst growing up was Steppenwolf. John Kay's Growl, Goldie McJohn's hammond work was killer. Nick St. Nicholas on Bass, Jerry Edmonton slamming the Skins. THe only lead player I can remember was Mars Bonfire, but he only stuck around for a few albums.

What about "Spirit" they came out with some pretty inspiring stuff.

I'm jealous ("green" with envy, get it?) of all your classic concert-going experience, especially your beer with Fripp & Eno (I'll never top that, though my bro' in law once lived next-door to a (must have been distant) cousin of Bill Bruford's, who after vounteering that yes, she was related to her famous namesake, said "I think he's in a band called "Yes" or something. Are they any good?" DUHHH! True story, & my brush with prog greatness, such as it is.... I did shake Victor Wooten's hand, however. Oh well...

"Quay Lude's" (just a stage persona) real name (or at least band name) was/is Fee Waybill. He was a former roadie. Apparently somewhat of an extrovert on stage....

Thanks for the compliment  on my Amon Duul II review. I'm going to write some shorter reviews of beloved classics over the next few days. I may not churn them out like a certain Mr. Ronnquist (? spelling -- who apparently either employs a large staff, or has hundreds of previously-written reviews waiting in his computer; the man must listen to music even more than I do, some 36 hours a day, eight days a week!), but I intend to thus increase my output. The longer reviews can be exhausting to write, & perhaps (perish the thought!) somewhat of a chore for some to read. I will still write the longer pieces as occasion and album dictate, however.

Re the shades of the Moodies (get it? Blue lettering -- ain't I the clever one?) in the AD2 song, yes, I could see that (with that song, although the band's sound is very diverse, overall), especially in the mellotron and sweeping synth. Thanks for checking them out!

Regarding the problems with sending me Private Messages (which can be handy), I had put you on my "Buddies List" (you were the first), but the "status" part always indicated that you could not contact me. I may have done it wrong, though, because I have just now deleted then re-added your name, and now the computer indicates that you can message me! I'll send you one now, to test!

Yes, Danbo ol' buddy, both are very good. My fave is "The Neighbourhood." One of the best rockin' electric blues-based bands in the U. S. of A., with Mexican-American/Latin flavours as well. Love the singer's voice -- very real and heart-felt! Their all-Latin EP is good too! Collossal Head is also great!

My fave non-prog bands are probably: Machine Head, Rage Against The machine and Iron Maiden.

there are so damn many.. Prog and metal is what I listen, but in metal there are SO many sub-genre's, some bands that I like:

Death metal : Morbid angel, nile, vader
Black metal : Ulver, wyrd, Kampfar
Suicide metal : Forgotten tomb, shining, ondskapt
viking metal : Amon amarth, falkenbach
Doom metal : evoken, worship, my dying bride
Prog metal: Maudlin of the well, opeth, green carnation, drawn
Katatonia-alike metal (lol?) : Katatonia (duh), rapture, daylight dies, october tide

other music:
Godspeed you black emperor, fly pan am, led zeppelin, amorphis

I can't hear all those stuffs made by (and for) young extremists & schizo...moreover I can't consider this sh*t as music or art...those bands make me want to throw up.
