Sometimes these "loading..." placeholders appear because the page attempted to load content from the server and failed, in which case sometimes the spinner (loading message) remains.

Sorry Max, I'm still not getting most of my email notifications, less than 5 percent.

Here's why the EMAIL NOTZ are not always sent out.

It's a new way of doing things in this new version. Please read on.
Email notifications are not sent to yourself, as you would know you have posted. If you subscribe to a topic then email notifications are sent for the first time someone replies going on the last date of your last visit to the forum, another post notification for that topic will not be sent again till after you have re-visited the forum.

To test to see if post notification is working you need two accounts. With the first subscribe to a topic and then logout the forum. Then with the second account login to the forum and post a reply to the topic the first account is subscribe to.

The report post feature will send a report to moderators and admins, but not to yourself, again as there is no point in reporting a post to yourself.

If you still don't get email notifications check with your mail server admin what requirements are needed to send emails to remote mailboxes as you may need to use authentication settings.

Please comments, but think and take a deep breathe before posting, it may be a wise solution ? Share your toughts, constructive please.

I'm not sure I follow all that. Basically in the past, by clicking watch topic I am able to keep an eye on troublesome threads as well as threads like forum abuse reporting etc.
I can be doing other things on the computer, but if someone reports forum abuse, or posts in a thread that is troublesome, I know right away.

^ That's it. For report abuse report, I think it going to be instantaneous but for watch topic, it seem that (as it is now) we can't count only on email notifications.

According to this:

If you subscribe to a topic then email notifications are sent for the first time someone replies going on the last date of your last visit to the forum, another post notification for that topic will not be sent again till after you have re-visited the forum.

I think I understand now.

Example:

You post and subscribe/watch a topic.
You will receive the first notifications after someone reply
BUT you won't receive subsequent ones until you come back to the forum.

The goal is to prevent sleeping members/inactive ones to receive email notification indefinitely.

Now we need to have all people understand this to know if we keep that new system.

Angry

the intended goal is understandable concerning inactive members - this protects them from getting tons of emails. However, if they don't want to receive such notifications they should unsubscribe once, simple as that. And this reduces unnecessary notifications which otherwise could evolve to a heavy load for the system, understandable too.

probably I don't get it, but now we active members are always forced to log in in order to be up to date, it needs more time to check all the different threads whether anything is going on there - a change for the worse, the meaning of notifications as such is purposeless now ...

I agree - before I could just open the email to read the post and then go to the thread if I wanted to respond. Now I have to open the thread to see if there were any later posts. Definitely a down grade.

Surely it's just as easy to automatically unsubscribe members who haven't been active fro six months.

What?

^ I have to agree with the above two posts (Dean and Uwe), basically this makes my job as site monitor much harder and the trade off will be that I am going to be a lot less effective than in the past.
It used to be easy to watch the whole site, not so anymore.

This forum is much worse than it used to be. Every two posts I get the stupid "you don't have permission" message.

Is frustrating.

You are special. TongueConfused I get error messages every three posts I try to make in average. Now I got another one.  A pop-up screen saying I can't post because I'm logged out... Though I'm quite logged-in and a little refresh solved things... Confused
