You should rename the thread. When I read the title I thought ELP were over because Carl Palmer had died.

Yeah, I thought you were about to tell us Carl Palmer had exploded on his drum stool, or died in a bizarre gardening accident..

(Perish the thought) but in the event of the untimely demise of Carl, they could continue as ELP with say...Neil Peart? Edited by ExittheLemming - November 09 2010 at 15:40 |

No, they're obviously going to reform with the Mike Portnoy, since he's unemployed now.

Eric Peachey would be another option (though I have no idea if he is still alive). Judging by the only album I have heard that he appears on he is as good as they come.

Emerson ,Lake and Portnoy does have a bit of a ring about it. Batten down the hatches and make sure your pets are indoors |

Well there's always Simon Philips, who Emerson has worked with before.
Perhaps they could just add the letter P in front of any suitable candidate - Phil Pollins? Or how about Phil Rudd from AC/DC. Emerson Lake and Pudd - I think that might be a goer! |

I know Palmer said E and L's skills are waning, but suggesting a guy who can't physically hold drum sticks anymore and the most straightforward rock drummer in the world might be overreacting
(kidding, just to clarify, I know you didn't suggest them) Edited by Pekka - November 25 2010 at 08:37 |

I'd forgotten about Phil Collins' problems. A good job I didn't suggest Buddy Prich! |

That's frustrating... As for me, I honestly, do not believe that they couldn't make any more of good music. Keith Emerson had a great album in 2008, and Palmer still holds the level. Dunno about lake, but from High Voltage record, he also was in fair shape. |
