I have never danced. Dancing is anethema to me. At high school dances we would go in the back of the cafeteria and drink beer. Sometimes when my buddy would let me fill in as DJ I would put my Guru Guru UFO album on. Wanna see a dance floor clear out fast. Just put Der LSD Marsch on and crank it. Dancing is primitive. Outdated. I don't even dance with my wife. Makes me fell noxious. One ofb the things on this planet that I absolutely HATE. And I know hate is  a strong word.

The fact that your sister is getting married, therefore asking for a government's-sanctioned union to be recognized, fills you with utter dread and revulsion?

I don't really mind that the government snctions marriage, since they don't take any of my money or infringe on any of my rights to do it. I just don't really see why it is their business.

I only play music that constantly shifts time signatures around other people so I'll never have to dance!
Which of you to gain me, tell, will risk uncertain pains of hell?
I will not forgive you if you will not take the chance.

But attempting to dance to prog is the most fun of all.

I am getting married June '11 and I have been informed I will have to dance.  I will be happy to do it for the girl I love, but if it wasn't for her, never.  I'm still kind of terrified of the whole thing though. Just have fun and don't care what anyone thinks, kind of like when you're listening to prog in you living room and everyone else is looking at you funny asking why you're listening to circus music.

Why are so many men afraid of dancing? Do they think it makes them appear feminine or even gay? "Strong men don't dance".  Confused

^ I don't think so. I'll assume the explanation is the same as in my case: when you haven't been taught how to dance, the whole idea of even being in a place where you could be asked to dance is very inhibiting.

Geeez, are you always on?
Just keep talking like that and I'm sure you won't have to worry about anyone wanting to dance with you ... perfectly safe.

Dancing is a form of physical activity.  I eschew physical activity.  Sleepy

Actually a few nights ago I danced with my daughter to "Owner of a Lonely Heart" (the DJ didn't know what progressive rock was, and when I said "Like Yes," he winced and said, "But Yes is more like classic rock!" Pinch).  Anyway, she loved it- I dipped her to the orchestral hits and moved her around with Rabin's solo.  It was fun.  Smile

I actually like dancing on occasion.  But am I a good dancer?  Hells naw.

Of course it isn't.  Would you consider bands like Henry Cow, Amon Duul II, or The Soft Machine in the larger category of classic rock?
