I have discovered several Genesis fans had locked up some Yes fans in an old shack when this poll was active. Those Yes fans are free again and now have finally got the chance to vote. I demand a recount!

Lol'd! Although I am disappointed that Yes didn't advance, I agree with what most people are saying about this poll closing "controversy." Let us just move on knowing that we don't have to fear living the next 4 years under the reign of Genesis supremacy (wonder what that would be like). A poll is a poll, and means very little in the grand scheme of things, even within the scope of the progarchives forums.

After seeing Yes live on acid, they easily take the cake as one of the natural wonders of the world. I hate to even vote in this. BUT TALES FROM TOPOGRAPHIC OCEANS FOR GOD SAKES!!

I have to protest. I'm schizofrenic and I had the opportunity to vote only once

It's not uncommon that after a poll is finished the votes go massively to the lost party. Same thing happened with GG-VDGG and Dream Theater-Riverside if I'm not wrong. The logical explanation could be that those of the winning party don't care about this poll anymore while the losing party has to find comfort in visiting this poll every day to see the winners go down. Oh, and it helps Kidding, in a poll between Yes an Genesis both are deserved winners.

While I know you're joking (at least I hope,) I never knew that people would take my silly tournament so seriously.

Genesis was the little band that could (and it did). Yes was the giant with the club for much of the way. Both overstayed their welcome. I'll give it to the wee fellow.

Why shoould I be angry?
Genesis won, the poll was closed on Sept 19 when the Charterhouse band was ahead, and Genesis will see faces with PFM in the next round.
Anyway, even if Genesis had lost, a poll won't make me angry.
BTW: There's a diffference between a fan andd a fanboy, the fanboy likes everythig the band does, I hate everything Genesis did after W&W.

The extremes of loving and hating a band and it's music are mirror or at least polar images. Judging from the above, a fanboy (or girl) likes everything (...ok...) and a fan likes... presumably certain eras or albums. This hating sounds like you're going from fan to anti-fan. Love vs hate. Fanboy to anti-fan boy... I've seen the latter in action at a Yes gig. Chatting to a "fan" after he said if Yes had played Starship Trooper he would have walked out. To this day I cannot figure what he meant, I doubt it would have meant or done anything. Had Yes played Starship Trooper; I would've been pretty damn' happy, and still was anyway - great gig that had lots of young ladies (I mean lots ) quite excited.) Maybe I'm not fan enough. Fandom is a strange place at times. (Magnification tour btw) As for latter day Genesis... what about the more in depth tracks e.g. Fading Lights and Driving The Last Spike? Home By The Sea (both of them.) The Live The Longs is (I thought) rather good. Thompson, Stuermer and their backing band do make a difference... Always thought And Then There Were Three would have benefited as a double album with the compositions extended to allow the music to happen. This is a bit like that Radiohead effort OK PC/Mac where (IMVHHO!) the songs stop short of being pieces as they are worried about what the press) people might say if they dared to extrapolate instrumentally. This would mean they are a prog rock band and that will not do. Which is quite rich considering the subsequent absorption of all things RIO into Kid A.... ooops gone off topic. Extrapolations....

Oh Ivan, I love the band as well and when I was younger they were my fav band. As the years went by I became more of a Yes fan. Anyway, it's all in good fun. I get a kick out of what everyone has to say about it and let it be said that this thread has generated quite a lot of interest. Saying that, I suspect Yes will roll on to a win now.
