Tough one.  Really, very tough.  Shouldn't these two groups have been seeded so they didn't meet till the final stages?  By a smidgen - it's YES

No it doesn't, it shows how little they trust the poll-maker.

Yes, I see what you mean. Well, that's only because poll makers in real life (politics for e.g.) are untrustworthy. blackening the reputation of even the good ones, well the Prog Archives polls.

The only thing I don't quite understand is if the poll is over how come the votes still come in. I mean all fine... but how does one stop a poll? And I am not referring to a former gf who lives in Warsaw, so no funnies...Wink

A poll is a joke and this is one of the nicest ever.
I strongly supported Camel and Yes against Genesis and I'm a bit disappointed, but I will not throw apples against the referee.

It will be nice to see what will happen in the final tha I expect to be Genesis vs Pink Floyd.

At the end  nobody will win or loose anything, so please all bear this in mind.
Thanks to UndercoveBoy. He has spent time and effort ans I think we all have enjoyed his work.
I stand with Roger Waters, I stand with Joan Baez, I stand with Victor Jara, I stand with Woody Guthrie. Music is revolution

Absolutely, very entertaining long after the song is over. Particularly since hardly anyone makes new music anymore. No KC (2000), PF (1994), Yes (9/11/2001), Genesis (1997), Tull (2000), ELP (1994.) Maybe it's time to only include active bands. Unless compilations etc count. Or solo albums I suppose. e.g. DG. KE, IA, RW, TB, PC, CP, (Asia?) etc...

In fact what would be more appealing, the solo projects (life aftre the dinosaur...) or nostalgic sentimentality Deadto the good old daze...

but fun poll, true.

Yes forever. Yes has to win. Yes had to win. Results may vary (?)

Perhaps he will reconsider when he sees the direction this is now going.

If this poll continues actively, as it is despite being over, then a more conclusive result may emerge. Higher numbers equal a more accurate result no?

Well, DT ended up getting many more votes after they lost, and they are still out of the tournament, so I'm assuming it won't change anything.

There was a finishing date when the poll started..SEPTEMBER 19, everybodody had to know it because it was in the first page, the started waited until September 19 and closed the poll in the determined date.

And people knew they had toi vote before that date.

BTW: No, more votes are not accurate, because many people who know the rules and could vote for Genesis, are not doing it because the poll has ended,

A date still provides a 24-hour window, and the pollmaker's own post indicated that he was happy to end the poll at 9:43 am EST when Genesis was up a paltry one vote.  For the Riverside vs PoS poll, he called it off at 21:48 am ESTThat isn't consistent at all, and a finishing date means nothing.

I voted for YES and I've never been a Genesis fan startiong from when a friend removed the tape of Atom Heart Mother from the car stereo to put in And Then there were three.
For me Camel are better than Genesis and they have been eliminated by Genesis in round 2.

There are no winners or losers and UndercoverBoy doesn't have any responsibility as referee. Justice or injustice, 109 persons mistaken their vote (this is a joke of course) and this is why Genesis advanced to the next round.

I have made the same consideration about the time of the poll's closure, I can also understand that there's people who really loves those bands and some "sentiments" are involved, but I think we shouldn't discuss about the rules of the game as it's not really a game.

This poll is great, even if Genesis win.

Well said.  Even though these polls are "for fun", consistency of end times would be nice.  I feel Yes got cheated.
