Like all those fields of sheep? Wink

Dude, why would you kill deer, ducks and goats?  What the f**k have they ever done to you? Angry

I did see a deer killed once but that was only because it walked in front of my car and a farmer came along and put it out of its misery.  I felt dreadful.

Besides, I thought a crossbow was sufficient to kill a deer with?

Bear in mind this was said in a DnD context, so they were in character.  But still... LOL

Well, that is one way of putting the whole animal to use Shocked

Apparently they're very absorbent.  Again, in character.

When we had chickens we would butcher them ourselves, as well as the pigs. I got used to the chickens but I never could watch the pigs. After they are dead I am pretty OK with skinning/cutting them up.

Why?

I'll tell you why. Humans eat meat. The meat you eat came from something living that is now dead. If you have a problem with killing animals. DON'T EAT F**KING MEAT. I killed that deer for the venison with my father. That venison didn't go to waste, the deer died fast, and it wasn't inhmanely treated like it would be stuck in some mindless processing plant somewhere in a sh*tty city block. If people have a problem with hunting and then still eat meat, it's a moral dichotomy, and they fail. I don't have a problem with killing, it's as natural as life itself. I only have a problem with idiots who kill for no reason, and fail to respect nature.

We're all just pawns in nature's circle anyway.

Ducks and goats are pests here. Farmers can kill them within reason, although Duck hunting season is specifically put aside for that reason. Deal with it. You could kill a deer with a crossbow, yes, or a rifle. Either way the consequence is the same.

And as for what Rob said I do eat meat.

That's not unnatural despite what those f**kin PETA nuts and crazy hippies will say. I mean we eat meat, its natural theres not even a question LOL And obviously they have to be killed. But it should be humanely of course and that's not even the issue.

IMHO hunting is just...well why kill animals? I personally dont see them as "lesser" than us and don't see the enjoyment in it. Maybe a man conquering nature thing?

Whatever. SR is not the place for this, I'll start a thread about it Wink

Edit: Hunting for sport that is. If you honestly need to hunt to live then fine.

I don't eat as much meat as I used to.  Most of the time it has be dressed-up too.  I just don't want to eat meat that looks like the dead animal. LOL

I was mostly curious about the goats.  Goats aren't really a delicacy, so I wondered why you were killing them?

They want to start a Badger cull over here because they think they're causing Tuberculosis in cattle.

I'm against this, naturally.

Pest culling is fine. We cull wild rabbits every few years because they carry all kinds of sh*tty diseases that destroy farm stocks and destroy hillsides. I've seen whole hills of rabbits move. It looks like the whole hill moves. That's when culling is needed. Also, the majority of pests in NZ were introduced by guess who... the f**king British.

Also in North Jersey there's a huge bear problem
YES WE HAVE MOUNTAINS AND TREES AND BEARS GOD DAMN IT!

There are state sanctioned hunts sometimes. Torn...but I guess I'm OK with it.
Even if they are just scrounging for food bears wandering through town can be a problem of course.
And people like to say *in stoned hipped voice* "But its OUR fault. They were living there and we intruded on them"
Which is true but that doesn't help much and not like people can be stopped from moving...

There are so many white tail deer here, lots of deer related accidents. My mom has hit...four? five? I don't remember. LOL One was a fairly large buck that ran into the side of the car running full speed.

Read the damn article.

It's not that clear cut in this case.

And one sentence annoyed me:

Licensees would be allowed to trap the animals in cages and shoot them, or just shoot them as they roam - so-called free-shooting.

How is this good?

And there's a chance a recent vaccine could be successful within the next 5 or so years.  Badgers are a protected species and are only allowed to be killed if sanctioned by the government.  They'd be giving the farmers the chance to do this themselves.  They'll absolutely love it, the gun-toting t***s.

*tongue firmly in cheek mode*
