That's a rather boring way to listen to music, wouldn't you say?

It finally comes down to this. I can only hope that Yes pulls ahead, right now it is basically neck and neck with Genesis being two votes ahead. I want Yes to make it to the finals, they are the band that introduced me to prog and I rediscover them every time I listen to them. Genesis are great, but there is something ethereal, otherworldly, and spiritual about Yes. At the same time, although I love Jon Anderson's voice, I understand it is an acquired taste.

So is Gabriel's, I think. I don't have problems with any though.

Thanks for clearing that up, Robert! I was very unsure about the meaning of the original post. |

Well you know, people only scream about one of these bands in bed. Just saying.

Voting for Yes, not just because I prefer their music, but because they were the first introduction to prog I ever had.
I remember sitting in my Dad's car during the long trips down the freeway to get to my aunt's house in New Jersey. We were listening to these seemingly endless, strangely ambitious compositions that sounded unlike anything else I had ever heard up to that point. The album was Fragile, and I must of been only 7 or 8. Completely changed my perception of music. Thanks Dad! By the way this is my first time posting on these forums, though I've been visiting them for a couple of years now. Great place you guys have here!

^^^ "GENESIS!!!"?
I knew the day would come.
Let's see. I love more of Genesis's albums, yet some of Yes's songs just blow my mind (not meaning Genesis doesn't blow my mind ).
I guess I like Genesis more.... But I can't seem to click on the little Cast My Vote button. Hmm...
Oh, no! They're tied! Edited by Chela - September 15 2010 at 22:14 |

At this point it'll be so close that I'll be willing to say "good game" even if Yes takes the title. I hope Genesis wins but I'll respect it if Yes does too.

I voted for Yes since they could actually write catchy complex tunes. Genesis usually failed at this (or at least the catchy part), but made some beautiful music, which Yes also did.

Genesis is one of the greatest and most original bands I've ever listened to.

Although i've been visiting the site for quite a long time now i've felt the need to register just to vote in this poll...
yet this is not an easy vote at all. my vote goes to Yes, but some years ago it'd have been Genesis. Let's just say that there's never been a band close to the harmonic, melodic and mostly rythmic perfection Yes managed to produce in their best albums, while I feel the Genesis-sound has been replicated ad nauseam, perhaps making it more "normal" to my ears. I still adore Genesis, but the crystalline aura Yes has is unbeatable to me. Gabriel owns any other Yes member musically, though.
