Oooh, lucky! The bonus tracks are AMAZING if you haven't heard them already. I got the Japanese version as well as the normal digibook version just for the bonuses, and it was worth it.

Insurgentes is my favourite SW side project so far. Blackfield is also good, but I do like the first BF better. Haven't really heard enough Bass Communion to form an impression. IEM is great, if you enjoy Steve's early PT work. SW's Cover Versions project is awesome, that is highly recommended. I have a little trouble with No Man, to be honest, as I miss SW's vocals too much. Bowness is an acquired taste. Maybe that's also why I prefer Blackfield I, because Wilson sings most of it (Geffen doesn't have as strong a voice IMO)
After next year, we shall see how Akerfeldt/Wilson, SW solo album 2, and Blackfield III fit into the equation.

I really, really enjoy Bowness' voice and everything he's done with no-man. Tim's solo album will be one of the next few that I order for sure.

Oh yes, I have heard them...ALL of them. That is the reason I bought the vinyl, even though it does not have "The 78" on it.
(I just discovered that the receiver that runs my real home speakers, B&Ws, does not have a phono input!!!! The old receiver in the basement does, but it is on crappo speakers. I'm not sure yet how I'm gonna get around this problem, because the upstairs receiver also runs the tv, satellite, dvd etc. etc. etc. and can't simply be moved) I have a recent review of the album up, btw.... |

This guy is selling all 3 of the Harmony Korine 7"s (black, white and red) for $19 USD (pretty amazing price) and he has 6 lots left in stock. Pretty sure I'll grab these if I have the money, not sure what the shipping would be like though.

The 78 (or "Untitled" as noted on my Insurgentes special edition) is one of my favourite tracks off the album! I love the distorted guitar about half way through.

Ah, so The '78 is the same track as Untitled, nice. Collecting Space is probably my favourite SW solo track overall.

I found another PT fan IRL today! I've never seen one before in real life, except those at the gig I attended, and the people I've converted personally.
At the supermarket of all places! I was wearing my Incident t shirt. The checkout chick said 'Hey, Porcupine Tree!' I was flabbergasted. She wasn't that old, either. Maybe late teens, early twenties. 'It's hard to find another fan. Didya see em?' she asked me. 'Yeah, I was there in February' I answered. 'I hate you!' she said. There is hope for the next generation after all.

Re: There is hope for the next generation after all.
I had a similar incident recently, when Marek and I went to see a local Matrix Energetics practitioner in Clearwater, Florida, and he took us around back to see the music studio that his son had set up. While his son was showing us around, he commented about liking my FOABP t-shirt, and when I asked if he was familiar with the band, he said "Of course!" Very cool! Even cooler, we are leaving tomorrow morning for NYC, where we will see the Insurgentes film premiere, complete with Q&A with Steven Wilson and Lasse Hoile on Tuesday evening, followed by the Radio City Music Hall performance by Porcupine Tree on Friday evening. To say I've been awaiting this week is a major understatement. ;-) |

I'm jealous of the two posts above, VERY jealous!
I'm yet to meet any PT fans IRL so far. One day, one day I can't believe the tickets to the SW meet and greet are only 12 pounds, that's insane! Make sure you tell use how it goes! |

Anyone have leads to online stores to purchase decent PT apparel that won't break the bank like all of their releases?

Hello gentlemen, I'm not really in the loop in this thread but Dali (ptkc) mentioned something about a new Steven Wilson solo album, is it really coming? |

I don't know a lot about it yet. Save for the fact that Cut Ribbon, a track long withheld by the band, recorded for In Absentia, is due to finally be released on this album. And Steve Hackett (!) plays on this, SWs second solo album!

All I know so far is that the song he and Mikael made together ("Cut Ribbon") is going to be on there... in a different version, I think. |
