A little more about the collaboration album between myself and Mikael - so far we have 25 minutes of music, it seems to us like nothing either us have done before. Mikael is taking care of all guitars (since he's at least 100 times better than me), and I'm playing keyboards, percussion and doing orchestrations, both of us singing.
It's pretty dark stuff, in a way heavy music with no heavy metal elements. (-;

On a related note, the track I wrote for the originally planned Akerfeldt/Wilson collaboration all those years ago when it was going to be more metal orientated, "Cut Ribbon", is scheduled to finally appear on the next SW solo album (shaping up to be a very diverse double CD). Steve Hackett just played some fantastic guitar on a track for that one too.

i actually very much agree with steven, i'm not a genesis fan but steve hackett is interesting.

i can't wait to get my hands on a super fancy (and expensive) edition of sw solo album 2

Steve Hackett just played some fantastic guitar on a track for that one too.   Sounding really good - the Akerfeldt collaboration is starting to sound a bit like Opeth's Damnation (though of course it will be different again).   Can't wait for an SW double CD! And Cut Ribbon's a great song, too.

Steven actually said that it's nothing like Damnation... something they've never done before.

Definitely going to be interesting. And I'm sure SW is doing a few guitar parts here-and-there... he's too good with those effects to let them go to waste!

I've never actually bothered to look into SW's solo works. Am I really missing out? If so, what should I get?

Yeah, SW's Insurgentes is an extremely good album.

Blackfield I is also a very good melancholic pop-rock album. I'd recommend it too.

^Oh, you absolutely must get some Blackfield - great melancholic rock/pop.

everything with steven is great. blackfield is my least favourite sw related thing but it's still very good! insurgentes is a true masterpiece
