Oh, yeah, the Pre-Calc stuff can be embarrassingly killer.

Is there any rational basis for believing in string theory? Because I can't seem to find any.

There probably isn't, just some fairly logical theoretics pointing towards it. It's a respected theory in most significant scientific circles.

And even if it isn't it's still fascinating.

I have no doubt that I was very fortunate to have gone to school/college before the internet. There is absolutely no way that I would be able to get the kind of grades that I got then with the distraction of the internet.
