Standard Tele's play like a dream and are usually around 800$ here (or about 400-500$ used) although I have no idea what the prices would be like in NZ. Great axes though.

Between $500-1400 NZD at the top end.

I'd be looking for a new one for less than 1k.

I'd recommend a used American Special Telecaster; they retail at about 1400 used here but they have one in used, although near mint condition for 900$ at my local music store. Amazing tone and looks sexy as well.

You can get a lot of other great guitars for that price though, depends on what you want to play.

Mine was $150 LOL
+ $100 amp (special deal at the time)
+bag and strings and other sh*t.
I think the ENTIRE purchase was $400. My friends guitar alone was more than that and he said he likes mine better.

And people told me I should know what I'm doing when buying stuff...

I'm not sure what I want to play. I'm not some hardcore gear-freak or musically technical beast.

OH! Thats right.
I remember that guy now.
From what I recall everyone dies/is in a hellish clusterf**k of racial hatred.
But there was a "soft happy" point, kind of sorta.

I meant what type of music, although there's more diverse instruments than a tele if you're still developing a style.

My top picks 1000$<

-PRS Custom SE
-As the page mentions, discontinued, so they're really cheap used (about 600 here for a sexy/insanely diverse guitar). There's the 25th Anniversary model now, although they'll be about twice the price and are essentially the same hardware with uglier coats of paint, IMO. Absolutely amazing build, tone and looks for the price.

-Fender Standard Telecaster
-Really good value for the price and more readily available than the PRS, although a different insrument altogether. You're more likely to get a great deal on a 1 or 2 year older model for one of these as well.

-Epiphone Les Paul 100
-Cheapest of the 3 but still a great guitar for a great price, and once again, will be a lot easier to find than the PRS Customs. They retail for about 500$ AUD new here, not sure about prices there. You can usually get them for about $450 on eBay.

Oh wait, hot hispanic woman is his partner? That's not good. Anyway, I'm glad Kos hates it too, it reassures me that I'm not being racist.

DUDE WE DONT LIKE THAT MOVIE! WE MUST HATE RACIAL TOLERANCE AND ALL THAT JAZZ
It was just bleh, and IMHO poorly constructed. Maybe they wanted that...but it felt disjointed, had no flow. Was just like boom new section.

I think it flows well enough for a movie where it's a clusterf**k of main characters, but the individual parts are all terrible.

Yeah, that's kind of what I meant. Yeah overall it moves well enough but each part is just like BLARGH! We'll vomit this at you. And it really was a clusterf**k of characters...

It's a student edition (made in Korea) but as I mentioned, they look f**king fantastic and sound brilliant for the price. I've played both it and the 3000$ actual version, and although I'm not a massive guitar expert, the difference wasn't as massive as I assumed it would be. They look amazing as well.

Hang out for a good deal and don't buy them at the price a store recommends, though, my friend got his guitar teacher to buy his Custom 22 as 'private stock' for his music teaching business (although not actually for the business) and got them down from 1500$ (already down from 3500$) to $1100 or something ridiculous.

Not sure if they do it in NZ, but here they seem to add 50% to every RRP for guitars because there's basically no market for them here. You can usually get a good deal though.

Like this - great price for a model in great condition and with both a soft case and a hard shell case.

Hmm, my interest is peaked. I think I'll have a chat to the guys in my hometown music shop (one is a former British 80's rocker who knows everyone in the region, and the other is Jeff Boyle from Jakob). I'm sure I could find something decent. They have Telecaster Standards in stock new for $800 NZ, and I'm sure that will come down further.

As I mentioned, don't buy it at the price they offer, they almost always overprice guitars. As I've mentioned, the PRS is the most expensive, but quite easily the best of the 3 from my personal experience and you'll also be able to get them down to an even better price than you would be with the others because it's OOP.

There's another 45 minutes aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I kind of feel like it's insulting to make me be angry at the black woman for being irrational when she's being rescued by the cop who publicly molested her. Because she was, but it's not a situation that ever happens!

Schechter are also great guitars for great prices, although I have no idea what the range/stock would be like in NZ.
