Are there any popular phrases you refuse to use that always make you wince when others do?

Here's some that make me cringe:

"after the jump"
"me time"
"talk to the hand"
"don't go there"
"you go girl"
"sweet as" (an NZ one but it always irritates me for some reason)
"bite me" (I realise that's supposed to irritate but for some reason it just sounds stupid to me, I'd never say it)

"reset" _________  (as in reset the economy, reset Russian relations, etc)
"teachable moment"
"bling"

From the obituary section....

"celebration of life"  (no, its a GD funeral....just say it)
"finally won his battle with cancer"   (no, he freakin' died...is dying now shameful unless there was a battle?)

LOL Textbook.....you finally started a thread I can get some therapeutic use from.  Clap

I've actually heard a cancer person speak out against the "brave battle with cancer" cliche. I'm sure there are times when it's been meant well, it's just that over time it has become automatic and meaningless, it's a very plastic thing to say now.

"family values" is another one

Same here, on the cancer thing.

"green" (everything is greenwashed now to make a buck by changing the terms of consumption)

Blah blah blah, "Not so much" It's not funny snarky internet people, stop reusing that joke.

That every single damn political scandal or controversy is appended with -gate. And all the fricking Czars. THINK OF SOMETHING NEW MEDIA! What's even worse is the right wing airheads who complain about the "unprecedented" use of Czars in the Obama administration, when there's no such thing as a czar! It's a title invented by the media!

The Onion has a classic, but vicious, article about battling with cancer.

I remember saying "Not!" after a remark to indicate that it was facetious/sarcastic used to annoy the hell out of me, but the infamous "not joke scene" in Borat seems to have killed that fad off, thankfully.

the word 'closure' is really getting intolerable, and when someone says "that's waaay more than I needed to know!" I get a little sick

I don't mind "too much information" but when people actually say "TMI" or other acronyms like that, it often annoys me. And yeah "closure" and "to need closure" irritate me.

Also, when victims are called heroes.

I don't want to ever hear the word 'proactive' again in this particular lifetime.

Can you tell me where we're headin'?

Well, considering one does not really fight cancer it is quite the bullsh*t statement

I'll add a some of mine:

It is what it is
grassroots
at the end of the day
fail
fml, lol, and all the other overused abbreviations
going green and all the derivations
a couple, do you really mean two or are you just too f**king stupid to say few
apples to oranges
that's what she said
emo unless you are talking about Emerson
pwn, own, owned.
She/he is so random
I could care less
Epic win
could of, would of
misusing literally
misusing irony
I don't mean to offend
man up
God Bless
take one for the team

I coulda woulda come up with some, but that would be so random.  Gag me with a spoon.

What I want to know:

Who's driving this?  We need someone to drive this.  (Never in reference to a vehicle.)
Who's taking ownership of this?  We need someone to take ownership.  (Never in reference to a f**king noun, even.)

Eh, it's an epic fail, the language of business.

Not so much a phrase but my wife and I were at this restaurant and at the table next to us were four either college or high school aged girls and like they overused "like".  We're talking like severely overused.  I was very close to turning around and like telling them to like put a cork in it or something.

I hate when a waitress give me my meal and says "enjoy".  Damn, finish the sentence woman.

And advertisement cliches:
"Nothing is better than _______________."  (and probably cheaper)
A variation:
"Nothing beats a Bud." (yeah, I'd rather die of thisrt than drink that p!ss)
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.

Any of the right wing buzz phrases are bad.
And some of the left wing ones, too.  They aren't as emphatic about getting them out there.
Trust me. I know what I'm doing.
