I never get this story thing in games at all. I haven't come across any game story that could remotely stand up to any half decent book. I always feel like asking those people who go nuts over the 'compexities' of Baldu'rs Gate, whether they've ever finished a book, I mean really read one right to the end.

Planescape: Torment has far better writing and storytelling than most books.

Cheers, I'll try that. Still got it lying about on a dusty shelf.

And the writers of Planescape: Torment are involved in other games, including Fallout 3 as well as an expansion for Neverwinter Nights 2.

Oh and the writer of Minsc and Boo on Baldur's Gate and Baldur's Gate 2 has also written stuff for Dragon Age.

Mmm.

And yes, try Planescape: Torment.  It's less action and more story and doesn't feature cutscenes.  I forget how many words it contains but I gather it's a record for any game.

Oh and I've finished many books, thank you very much. Big smile

How is, Mike?

I really like the first game, even though I've never actually finished it (the Campaigns, that is).

I think I'll try Planescape again. I kinda drifted away from it after the first hour or so. But Far Cry 2 is boring and I've got no other exciting games until Halo: Reach.

If you like action and lots of whacking of people, then Planescape may not necessarily appeal to you.  Yes it does feature fighting and you can indeed change from a fighter to a mage to a thief and vice versa but fighting is not really what the game is about.

It would be nice if it worked with this monitor, but the screen isn't centered and there's a black bar on the right. I really hate this computer.

It's plays like the first, but of course with state of the art graphics and sound. Of course the multi player part is still the main focus, but I'm also quite enjoying the single player campaign.

It's practically the same game. It's a remake, not a sequel.

Playing through all the Final Fantasys again. 1 is not a problem, antiquated but enjoyable. 2 however is the worst of the series and I cannot abide the NES original because it's broken and sucks. I have to go for the PS remake.

Hmmm but the original game is still excellent and very playable.  I would have thought a sequel would have been a better idea?

Anyhow, hasn't one of the voice actors died since the first game?  I'm guessing they've got new voice actors in anyhow.

It actually is a sequel, I'm saying in essence it's a remake.

You mean Chris Avellone and Feargus Urquhart of Black Isle Studios (now of Obsidian Entertainment, which is pretty much just Black Isle reorganized). Chris and Feargus were not involved with Fallout 3. They were, however, involved in Fallout 2 and the upcoming Fallout: New Vegas.

There are a few CGI cutscenes. The alley, for example. But yeah, mostly words. Lots and lots and lots of words.

Earthworm Jim ROCKS!

I've been playing Dragon Age, but I force myself to not play during the week.  I'd likely fall behind in classes if I did. LOL

I loved Dragon Age as I was playing it. However, after the fact, I don't have much desire to play through it again. And I honestly don't know why that is. Confused
