^really? You even said that you weren't that fond of show-off Jazz Fusion from the 70's, right? In my opinion, The Dixie Dregs never really had good tunes, though everyone on board were very capable.

I didn't say I don't like jazz-fusion at all, I stated that after listening to a ton of jazz-fusion bands I currently like very few of them, and Dixie Dregs are among them. They are rather unique, in that they can switch from classical music to country-rock to southern rock or jazz-fusion. Saying that they never really had good tunes is a bit harsh : I absolutely love all their songs, they all have something special. Did you ever hear "leprechaun promenade", "the bash", "broad street strut", or "ice cakes" ? |

I know what you meant...
Anyway, what I meant was that they weren't really good composers, their playing is mainly the highlight in their compositions, in my opinion. And yes, I've listened to those songs, 'Ice Cakes' is one of my favorites tunes by them. But they're by no means a favorite fusion band of mine.
