Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis) CD

is it as good as 'sacrifist' (which can be disturbing as you have 3 tracks of pure extreme metal - thrown in between more soft tracks). I guess this one is more homogeneous from start to end ?

I can't say.  I've only got Transmutation, Warszawa, and Tennessee 2004.  I do have some Bucketheads, which fit tat description.

By the way, here's a Laswell project you might be interested in:

Here's the blurb on CD Universe:

Arcana: Byard Lancaster (alto saxophone, bass clarinet); Pharoah Sanders (tenor saxophone); Graham Haynes (cornet); Nicky Skopelitis (6 & 12 string guitars); Buckethead (guitar); Bill Laswell (fretless, 4 & 6 string basses, sound effects); Tony Williams (drums).

Personnel: Nicky Skopelitis (guitar, 12-string guitar); Buckethead (guitar); Byard Lancaster (bass clarinet, alto saxophone); Pharoah Sanders (tenor saxophone); Graham Haynes (cornet); Bill Laswell (synthesizer, 6-string bass, fretless bass, sound effects); Tony Williams (drums).

Recording information: Greenpoint Studio, Brooklyn, NY.

Unknown Contributor Role: Bill Laswell.

Arc of Testimony is one of the last recordings to feature legendary drummer Tony Williams, and its bold, experimental textures are a fitting epitaph to his career. Arcana was formed by bassist/producer Bill Laswell with the intention of exploring the outer reaches of fusion, ambient and free jazz. Like the group's debut, Last Wave (released only in Japan), Arc of the Testimony is a freewheeling, unpredictable blend of electronic and acoustic sounds. However, this record is even more adventurous, since it finds a common ground between improvisation and post-production studio trickery. All of the musicians -- Williams, Laswell, saxophonist Pharoah Sanders, saxophonist Byard Lancaster, cornetist Graham Haynes, guitarist Nicky Skopelitis and guitarist Buckethead -- are open-minded and help push the music forward, resulting in a thoroughly involving, challenging listen. ~ Stephen Thomas ErlewineDown Beat (3/98, pp.48-49) - 4 stars (out of 5) - "...Laswell has assembled a bracing, challenging recording that references but updates the classic Lifetime sound, always featuring Williams' churning rhythms and staccato beats in a central role..."

Next up here, an EP album that I was actually happy with when it came out:

They've really run out of ideas in the absurd re-hash of the dead art once known as music, haven't they?

You really need to grow a pair.
