 I picked it up in a $1 bin over 10 years ago, and have rarely listened to it. That said, it actually isn't too bad. It is pretty straight ahead rock and roll/metal. Not exactly sure how I would describe it, I guess I'd say that they remind me mostly of AC/DC meets Lynyrd Skynyrd.-------------

Actually two albums show up under that artists name when I went to their page...I'll download both. Probably came to me cause I do listen to both Skynyrd and AC/DC.....If they are listed as "related" or "influenced by".....That's probably why...The other album is called "Gettin' Pretty Good...At Barely Gettin' By" -------------

I am now enjoying a little Fourplay Between the Sheets before I head down to the Tigers - Twins game tonight. Liriano -vs- Verlander should be a pitcher's duel, but Verlander has been struggling this year so we will see.

Passed on the EP for now...working on the new album instead. My guess (which is worth nothing) is that it should be out this autumn. If I'm honest, the first time through I was disappointed, but that was because I was expecting (hoping) it would be as heavy as Mattis' first album. I'm about 4 or 5 listens in now and getting to appreciate it for what it is, and it is definitely full of great tracks, and the story is presented in an enjoyable way. I think my current favorite is "The Ghosts Start Dancing". I think I'll have to give it another spin once I'm done In the Court Btw - I've seen you mention how not a lot of albums got 5 stars from you in 2009. So far I've seen this one and Il Castello Di Atlante's - what were your others?

To be fair, I have not heard the other album, so I cannot compare, but every time I listen to this one, I am impressed and so happy that I decided to listen to it - that is what makes it five stars for me. As for my favorite albums of 2009, here they are (in order): 1. The Decemberists - The Hazards of Love (5 stars) 2. maudlin of the Well - Part the Second (5 stars) 3. I would say that Face of Our Fathers is definitely the more mature piece, although I would also say the immaturity of A Sleeper's Awakening has it's own charm. Good list, by the way, I've heard all of those albums and enjoyed them all. Currently: |
