Well, at the time of posting I'm fairly confident that Ian was using Firefox 3 from a Windows system, (much like you are), I say fairly confident because "the system" says I'm using IE7 when in reality I'm using IE8, so it's not infalible. Anyway, I *think* that Macs do have Notepad, currenly available at issue 8.0 from Apple's website.

If Macs have Notepad, then they sold out irreversibly Also, I didn't check what Ian used for browsing PA today, but I know for sure he's the only 16th century guy to own a MAC, ever!

I have figured out a way to defeat the timeout expired bloody thing. Type a little bit then post reply then go to post options and edit post. So far this is working. But it's absolutely ludicrous that I have to do it this way. Unfortunately I can't include the photos that were sent to me. I will post them on my own website nevertheless. Another guy tried to copy and paste who knows computers and he gave me the same explanation as the guy in the electronics store. It's the site.

Let's try a little experiment. I'm going to paste one of my old reviews straight into this box after this and click "post reply". I reckon it will post it all okay.
During the comparatively barren times for progressive music in the early 70s, guitarist Bill Nelson (William Nelson, 18 December 1948, Wakefield, West Yorkshire, England) recorded the limited edition Northern Dream. Tapes of this collector's item were played by the pioneering disc jockey John Peel on his legendary BBC Radio programme, Top Gear. The line-up of Nelson, Nicholas Chatterton-Dew (drums), Robert Bryan (bass, vocals) and Ian Parkin (d. July 1995; guitar) recorded Axe Victim as Be-Bop Deluxe. Nelson soon disbanded the outfit, and following a tour supporting Cockney Rebel, he formed a new band, taking members from that fragmented unit. This short-lived combo also broke up. With the addition of bass player Charles Tumahai (b. New Zealand, d. 21 December 1995) and drummer Simon Fox, Nelson released Futurama and Sunburst Finish. The latter included a surprise hit single, "Ships In The Night". Nelson's undeniable talent as a guitarist began to dominate the band and as his technical virtuosity grew, the songs became weaker. Nelson abandoned the name in 1978 for the more radical Red Noise, retaining keyboard player Andrew Clark from the old band, although he now records under his own name. During their peak, Be-Bop Deluxe were an exciting and refreshing band who were ultimately unable to find a musical niche that suited their varied styles.

This problem has been around for years. I suggest people (in the meantime) ctrl + C their reviews before clicking the post button. Review goes away - no biggy, just ctrl + V and it's back. WHOOOOAAAA  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also - I hereby sentence this thread to add "...you sons of bitches" to the end of the thread title to make it awesome.

Well I solved both problems in these ways :
Forums
I find you have about 7-10 minutes max before that time out thing shuts you down. So after 5 minutes just to be on the safe side hit post replly. Then edit. after another 5 minutes post reply and then edit and so on.
Reviews
Just submit a rating then edit it and you won't lose it.
I have an acquaintance who works in the computer science department at McGill University who I'm going to meet with tomorrow to get him to have a look a t this.

I still don't underrstand whtyyou don't just write in notepad or something and then paste it. Takes seconds not minutes.

This doesn't make sense anyway. The timeout is not the time from opening the text-edit box to hitting [Post Reply], it's the time from hitting [Post Reply] and the server processing the form-submission.

Yeah that's always kind of bugged me, but not too much. Once I noticed that I save my ratings for reviews.

NEVER trust posting a full review without copying to word first or at least copying it somewhere. It's too risky and I used to lose reviews all the time.
