Topic: Favorite Legend of Zelda? Posted: June 29 2010 at 15:21 |
I've finished playing Spirit Tracks recently and have been wondering what the folks on PA think of The Legend of Zelda. I hate to be obvious, but it's hard to admit that Ocarina of TIme is anything less than flawlessly made. Even though there are games that I like better, every aspect of that game had a tremendous amount of care put into it, and the way the story and gameplay progress is nothing less than amazing. However, I'm going to give my vote to A Link to the Past. There are few games that are more magical and entertaining, and it's a joy to play from beginning to end. Also, I don't want Ocarina of Time to get all the votes which is what will inevitably happen.
So, gamers, which installment of this classic series do you fancy the most?

Haven't played Awakening, Oracle of Seasons/Ages, Minish Cap, Phantom Hourglass or Spirit Tracks.
It's so hard to pick a favorite. I can't choose yet.

I've only played the first three, and liked them all for different reasons.
Well, the second one is a bitch and kind of made no sense, but there you are.
There is something special about A Link to the Past for me. It was one of my favorite SNES games. I really enjoyed it. It gets my vote as well.

Adventure of Link was indeed a "bitch that kind of made no sense," and is definitely my least favorite of the series. It was pretty groundbreaking and it would have been interesting if the "levelling" system was kept intact, but it was still much more frustrating than fun to play. A Link to the Past does have that special something that you can't just put your finger on, and it's one of my favorite SNES games as well.

I have spent weeks and weeks worth of time playing that game, a lot of time was just playing around with some of the glitches.

I have had quite an interesting experience with that game. I first played it when I was seven, a time when I really, really sucked at gaming. It took me a week to get past the Deku Tree, and I pretty much have the entire dungeon layout engrained into my memory, and can now beat it in like 10 minutes. When I finally beat it, I felt so proud. Then I got stuck in Goron City not knowing what to do. I touched it every once in a while, but when I was twelve I sat down and played through the entire game in about a week.
It really says a lot about how good a game is when some people can spend 15 hours playing through it or 50 hours playing through it. Definitely a game that's all it's cracked up to be.

I was going to mention the same thing, now when I start a new game the first "obstacle" is having to wait through the dialogue. I have forgotten the layouts of most dungeons, so it takes me a while to readjust, but after that I can get through them pretty easily. Another thing I love about that game is the atmosphere. One thing that bothers me now is that I love the feel of the fighting system in TP, so it isn't as fun to fight in OoT, although to be fair I have done everything in that game so many times nothing is a challenge anyway.

The one where you beat dungeons and get the sword, bow, and boomerangs.

I especially love the part when you have to save Zelda from Ganon. Octoroks and Moblins were my favorite minions to fight.

You forgot Zelda: The Wand Of Gamelon, Link: The Faces of Evil, and Zelda's adventure. Wand of Gamelon is the best game ever man!! Alright, for real: very difficult pick between A Link To The Past and Ocarina of Time. I choose the former, though.

I happen to be playing "Spirit Tracks" right now on my daughter's Nintendo DSi. Great game and taking me a long time to complete. I found it on sale recently, and haven't played (or barely played) any of the other Zelda games.

I just knew someone would mention those games by the first page. Since no one would seriously vote for those games and few people have actually played them, I didn't include them. Just pretend they never happened, even if they are a good source of comedy.
