Prog Sphere brings you an interview with a man behind one of the most influential Swedish bands, Kaipa. I had an opportunity to ask him some questions about his musical background, the beginnings of Kaipa, their albums, his collaboration with other musicians, future plans and so on. Ladies and gentlemen, please give it up ...for… Mr. Hans Lundin! Check this interview HERE! |

Charlie Dominici remains remembered as a former member of today’s most influential and successful progressive metal band, Dream Theater. But besides that fact, Dominici still knows how to make good albums and that’s what he has presented in his O3 trilogy. I’ve spoken with Charlie about his time before joining Dream Theater, 15th anniversary of When Dream and Day Unite, but also about the O3 trilogy itself and his future plans. Read an interview with Dominici HERE.

About 2 weeks ago we interviewed Nicklas Barker, a fellow of a certain Mathias Danielsson, with whom I had an opportunity to talk about My Brother The Wind, a common project of Mathias and Nicklas. Mathias also has a band called Makajodama, which we spend a lot of time discussing, as well as a country rock band called The Usual Suspects. We also talked about his other projects, future plans and collecting vinyl records! Check this interview with Mathias HERE.

Here comes one of my latest musical revelations, an Austrian acoustic jazz band named Falb Fiction, led by young saxophonist Viola Falb. I became interested in this band after I was introduced to this year’s program of the Nishville Jazz Festival. Read on and find out what Viola says about the band, its connection with cult movie Pulp Fiction, her influences and so on. Read the interview HERE.

I’m not really sure what a “blackjazzer” is, but it seemed like a cool thing to call a member of Shining, who just released their album Blackjazz, which blends death metal, jazz, and prog. Anyway, we talked to Torstein Lofthus, the band’s drummer, about his work with the band, his other projects (such as Elephant9) as well as his influences and some other stuff. Read the interview with Torstein HERE!

Hey there, fellas. After some time off, I'm back and ready to share some great stuff with you. First of all, several updates on the site:
Consecration - .avi review - if you're fun of Isis, Cult of Luna, Autechre, Tool, Mono,... you simply MUST check this Serbian band! A real MUST and blast! The Tangent - A Place on the Shelf review - there's no need to tell anything about one of the greatest prog rock bands on today's scene. Read on! Elephant9 - Walk the Nile - one of the top5 albums of 2010, surely. An interview with Jerry Goodman - the genius! Lunar Dunes - From Above review - personally, one of my latest greatest discoveries. Find out why! Other than that, Dan and I are thinking of releasing a free compilation to highlight up-and-coming bands from around the world. We would not intend to extract any profits from the use of your material, the only intent is to promote the music of obscure prog/fusion/jazz/psychedelic bands to our readership. It would be a download from our site. Surely we have in plan to "release" several volumes, so if you have any band that pops out on your mind, please let us know, there are emails on the website and we would be glad to hear from you, guys! That's all for now, I guess. More surprises come and stay tuned! Take care, Nick Edited by AstralliS - July 26 2010 at 13:10 |
