I was up until midnight playing Wii Golf last night; but, tonight it's disc 2!

I love the live version of "Berlin" on disc 1. Extremely powerful.

I've made it pretty clear that it's my least favorite Marillion album ever. Just does nothing for me.

It's extremely rare I disagree with Eric, but I really like it. I admire the way some of the harder tracks have been stripped back to, in a couple of instances, virtually raw emotion. There are new approaches in there, and whilst not perfect, I find much to enjoy and admire.

"Hard As Love", for example, is such a powerful song and a pivotal part of Brave. You strip away the anger and intensity, then it becomes a completely different animal. It just doesn't agree with me.

I am glad you like it though, Laz. I sure wish I latched on to it like you did.

I moderately like it. Some of the interpretations are really cool (I absolutely LOVE the version of Hard as Love), but in almost all of the cases I prefer the originals. Still a decent album IMO.

Eric,  you're really bumming my scene!  I hadn't even thought of that possibility,  it's too horrible for words,  see you in 2013 if that's the case.  ConfusedCry

Kenmar, I'm thinking of worst case scenarios. I'll be surprised if they pair a swap the band with an all acoustic set. Anything can happen, though.

I'm taking the girls to Monterey, CA next year. I'm still planning on attending the weekend; however, if it does fall through then this will give us more wiggle room for Monterey.

Man, my question regarding the DVD is who is this girl? She's peppered throughout the second and third DVD and is right in front of Pete. Girl is an absolute stunner.

Yes, yes. This version of Berlin really gave me a different appreciation of the tune.
Good luck on the virtual links BTW !

Eric, I heard that they'll be doing a country and western set, just like they hinted at last year !
Steve
Really? would that be in Holland too? 'Cause that really is depressing - my first Marillion Weekend and I don't really like the theme of every single night! (Hollidays in Eden is not my favourite album)...

Joren

Joren, I think Steve is joking. Last year in Montreal the band broke off in this completely improvised country & western song.

E
Me ? Joke ?    Of course I am.   No "hurtin'" music for Marillion. I don't think h owns a pick-up truck.
We'll just have to be patient and wait for them to announce the itinerary fellows. Hopefully we'll know their intentions soon.
Perhaps if we're lucky the "swap the band" portion of night two will only be for a few songs, and the band will get to shine on their own for most of the show.

Oh, haha I´m sorryEmbarrassed Boy am I glad you were joking. And yes, a couple of songs swap-the-band wouldn't hurt, of course

I think it's a decent album - some songs in particulair are very nice, Out of This World and Interior Lulu for example - I don't see it as a real studio album, though, so as far as I'm concerned Happiness was the fifteenth studio album and the sixteenth is coming up.

So speaking of wifes,  since I got the Out of Season DVD, my wife has seriously gotten into Marillion.  This morning I opened the 5 disc changer to see it filled with Marillion.  she's also looking at the lyrics on marillion.com, the website not the album and asking me about interpretations of songs.  I think we have another convert but she doesn't like Fish era yet.  Kenmar

Never let her go, Kenmar. My wife can't stand 'em.

Do you think she'll go to the convention with you?

Got back to work today and my box from Racket arrived with the official bootlegs from the Hogarth era waiting for me. I just love getting that huge cardboard package.

Hey guys, been away from the Round Table for too long!

How is the Out Of Season boxset? I'm yet to order my copy although I've got just enough money to grab a copy.
