Considering they probably won't play The Incident in its entirety after this tour (they're probably sick of playing it every night by now), there needs to be some recorded document of it.
Finnforest, I agree with you calling them a 'live' band. The studio albums are great, but somehow the live environment makes them sound even better. Wish I could go and see PT every night, lol.

I'd love to see that gig... How can they not film it? It really is their biggest gig EVER... I'd love just a CDR even, like the Ilosaarirock CD... Another DVD would be like a dream come true, although ANY recording would be appreciated. Also, RE The Incident Live: I liked the album, but didn't love it 'till I saw it live. Every single performance was AMAZING, and there was basically no gap in between track with Steven switching guitars, etc. The jumps in dynamic were perfectly pulled of as well, like the transition from the heavier riff starts in The Incident, and then the pop-rocky outro... Perfect |

After reading the reviews of the Porcupine Tree DVD, saying that the DTS sound is great, i can't wait to see the blu-ray version June 15th.

I'm not sure, but was "Half-Light" ever played live before Anesthetize came out?

Never (legally) recorded, but it probably would've been played live for the band to get some practice in of playing it in a live setting.
It's available on the rare Lazarus CD single. Luckily, I got myself a copy for $2. |

^Joel, has your red edition shipped yet? It's June the 1st today. I'm not expecting the confirmation email for my grey edition just yet, they're sending the reds first.

My love for the Incident increased 100 fold when I saw them perform it live. Amazing. Perhaps they will release the Albert Hall gig as one of those Residents of A Blank Planet exclusives.

Nope, waiting for the email confirmation still. It's only 9:30 AM on June the 1st in England, though, so they'll hopefully send confirmations sometime soon. They better post them today - All the talk in here and on the PTF about how amazing it is both spirit-crushing and exciting. |

Yeah, they do need another live CD for this run of RoaBP... Since it's a 3 hour gig, a 2CD live album would be lovely... Although since Mr. Barbieri has said they probably won't film it, I don't want to get excited over it. |

Just downloaded Meantime from Burning Shed. A song taken from the In Absentia sessions, and cut off the album. It's very different to PTs other stuff, but I really like it. Only one British pound! Kind of a classical/folky guitar piece, with an almost cheery mainstream sound!

I'm actually much of a fan of Meantime myself, not a bad track by any means, just sound way too much like Radiohead for my liking.

^LOL. It was definitely a bit of a creative gamble on PTs part. It's quite different to their usual sound, but its a very pleasant song.
PS: What's wrong with Radiohead?

Nothing really, it's just painfully similar to this track imo:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Lpw3yMCWro Also, according to the Burning Shed Twitter: Anesthetize Special Edition shipping from tomorrow, RED copies first. Will take until Friday (at least) to ship all orders. And some other comments say that that means that all Reds will be posted by this friday, and as many greys as possible as well... http://twitter.com/burningshednews I took it to mean that they would have them all posted out by today. Ah well, at least the wheels are finally turning. Edited by progkidjoel - June 01 2010 at 06:17 |

After a bit of stuffing around (I had to download a conversion tool and convert the song to MP3 format) I finally got Meantime uploaded to my Ipod. I'm right now listening to I Fail from the Out Absentia demos over on YouTube.

^I Fail is actually from the Stupid Dream demos, (illegally) pressed as 'Ambulance Chasers'. Man, that's a great track. Shame it was never made at all available; like I've said before, would love a boxset just composed of all the unreleased material over the years of PT. Like Recordings, but material from every single album.
It's annoying that they only have the FLAC option for Meantime, although it does sound fantastic. |

I'd love a boxset of PTs unreleased stuff (god knows there's enough to fill a few discs), but I doubt Steve would ever allow it. Shame.
I did get Meantime working on Itunes, but it did take a fair amount of reading help sites on Google, and stuffing around trying to convert FLAC to something compatible with Itunes and Ipods.

First post on here after a few months just browsing around. I first heard PT around 4/5 years ago, and thought they were fantastic, best band I'd heard since The Floyd. Love Marillion as well but thats for another forum... For family reasons I was unable to get tickers for the Albert Hall gig so to hear there's unlikely to be a recording of the show is a major dissapointment. At the moment, listening to John Wesley's solo albumn, Shiver, which is highly recomended |

There's a great interview with Steve over at his Facebook page, where he discusses everything from Insurgentes, to PTs appearance at Coachella, to music culture these days, to the new DVD.
He says he never practices his instrument, which I find hilarious, because you'd never know it from seeing him perform live. He also says the reason their special editions are so rare and expensive, is because theyre very expensive to make (of course, I figured that), and that they'd probably make a loss if they produced 10,000 and only 5000 hardcore fans bought them. So, if you produce 2000 copies, that attracts the Ebayers to buy twenty copies and sell them for 200 pounds, and if you make 10,000 you lose money. SW also admits to liking the grey version better, that's why they made more of them! Still, even though I ordered mine, I hope they release the audio from this concert as a downloadable content from Burning Shed for those who didn't get the limited edition.
