It was the one DVD I shouldn't watch, but did because I could
I'm the volume in your speakers,  I'm the chill up your spine
and I made no mistake, the day I ordered mine
I can fly to Montreal next year, you know that I will find
fans gathered at Brutopia, we can talk about old tunes.Wink

Kenmar, if h ever decides to leave (God forbid), you may have a new gig. Approve

I checked with Montreal Rick and he's going to get the special deal with the hotel towards the end of July.

thanks but I'll only write lyrics, good news about the hotel.  So after seeing disc one my only complaint is that having so many camera angles is not always a good thing.  sometimes I want to see more than 2 seconds of an angle like when rothers is doing a solo.  overall though a truely inspiring performance.   kenmar

Maybe when the 2009 Montreal DVD is released later in the year it will be a bit more focussed. They used one boom and one hand-held from what I remember.

Steve,

I think 2 booms flanked both sides of the stage. Pretty sure.

At least it's not like Yes' Keys To Ascension where they flash little goofy images in place of the actual performance. That drove me out of my friggin' mind!

Eric, I thought that too, but then remembered that it was one boom on one side each night, but alternated sides one day to the next ( Maybe.....I think.....I'm getting old ) .
Yeah, the KTA video is quite annoying from that respect....and the performance is overdubbed so heavily. I prefer the Symphonic DVD a lot more.
Have a great Friday in KC.

The first set of the DVD Out of the Season is quiet good. The picture is beautiful, the DTS soud is nice, the camera work is better in this one then all the previous one. Really like the Season's End interpretation, my favorite Marillion Hogarth cd. Marillion's DVD still improve over the years.

All things considered, guys, would the Out of Season DVD be worthwhile buying for me? Or would you rather recommend an earlier Marillion DVD?

From the Fish Era, buy Recital fof  the script for the great music, and after Live from Lorely.
For the Hogarth period, buy out of season and after Somewhere in London
The out of season is more exprensive because its a boxset, but for the technological aspect, its the best one.

Thanks, I've already got Recital, Loreley, From...Ipanama, Marbles on the Road, Brave Live 2002, This Strange Convention, I had been thinking of buying Somwhere in London, but hadn't got to it and then Out of Season was released, so... But, you recommend the latter the most? I think I will buy that one. Thanks again for your help; it's just, there was some talk about too much camera angles and different shots, etc., that's why I was asking.

Man, both are VERY good. Of course, I only watched disc 1 of Out Of Season last night.

You can't go wrong with either.

Sidenote: I found out that one of the themes for the Marillion weekend is a swap the band. VERY disappointed.

A swap the band? I'm sorry, what does that mean?

Fans can 'audition' and sit in with the band during one night of the convention. For example, there's a Youtube video of a guy replacing Rothery for "Kayleigh". On the Wish You Were Here DVD a fan from Australia replaces Ian on drums for "King". Also, a guy takes over for h on "Afraid Of Sunlight". Sorry, but I don't want to hear anybody play Marillion tunes BUT Marillion.

Yes, I agree with you, I mean, it is quite funny and ehm family-esque to do such a thing, but I've paid a lot for the weekend and I surely wouldn't feel as good afterwards if something like that would have occured. How did you find out? Would it be for a whole night? or just for one song (that, I would not mind that much)? And if it is for a whole night, can't we express our discontend about it somewhere? I mean, if a lot of the fans would rather want to hear Marillion (and I guess they would) and the band would be made aware of this, I'm sure they wouldn't go through with it.

By the way, The Marillion Round Table is the second most largerst band-appreciation thread, of which we can be very proud, I thinkClap Only the Flower Kings thread is bigger and then we have a couple of genre threads - which I´ve excluded of course from the counting.

The camera angles shots are not too quick, like i have seen on other metal videos. Here, it gives you times to enjoy the shots. I hope there's not too much songs play by other musicians then Marillion.
