What, did I give it 3LOL

I'm always trying to rate conservatively, but I'll always adjust upon further reflection if I think I'm wrong later.  We'll see how it goes!

Their other album is good too, despite it getting no love.

Speaking of this, Jim- I owe Ms. Bush an apology.

In time I will be rewriting my Hounds of Love review.  It has so far gone from one star to three for me.

Yeah, I heard lots of Zappa back in the day, but am just starting to re-buy stuff on CD.  Looking at his catalogue is a bit daunting for the pocketbook, ain't it?Smile

I've never heard a single Zappa album.  I've heard plenty of tracks, but never a full album (let's just say the tracks never piqued my interest).

Pinch I wouldn't say Freak Out is a good place to start, Robert... LOL

I bought it because I had no CDs for the 8 hour drive home, and Best Buy was closed, so I was stuck at the horrifically overpriced Barnes and Noble.  No way was I paying $18.99 for Sheik Yerbouti or Hot RatsFreak Out was reasonably priced.

Well, in that case I guess it was worth it! LOL You should get Over-Nite Sensation, Hot Rats, or Absolutely Free at some point, though. I think those three albums accurately represent all of the best eras of Zappa. Thumbs Up

To be perfectly honest, I'm not trying to "get into" Zappa.  Like I said, I just needed some music for the long trip and B&N doesn't exactly have a great selection (got some Miles Davis for $7.99 though).

Incidentally, I didn't even listen to the Zappa album in car...haven't even opened it yet.  LOL

I did buy and listen to Systematic Chaos...what's wrong with folks here?  That's some really good stuff.

About Systematic Chaos... I've been appreciating that album more lately as well. I'm considering changing my rating from a 3 to a 4, but a few songs like Prophets of War and Constant Motion have prevented me from doing so... Ermm

"Constant Motion" was okay to me, but yeah, "Prophets of War" I did not like.

That song is just awful IMO. The lyrics are horrendous, it sounds like they're trying to be Muse (who I don't like anyway), and the vocal line is incredibly annoying.

Now that I let out that rant, let's praise In The Presence of Enemies! ClapLOL

LOL. Systematic Chaos is my favorite Dream Theater album and I don't give a crap! Tongue
