I felt bad for Pete for hitting the wrong bass pedal during "Holloway Girl". You could tell he was so disgusted with himself.

Man, so glad the NA convention is back in Montreal and not Vegas. I have to say I was disappointed when the idea was tossed. A part of the world I care never to visit.

I absolutely love Somewhere Else as an album, and as a track... I can't put a finger on anything its done wrong.
The only song I can't quite get into is "The Last Century For Man". Everybody detests "Most Toys", but I like the tune.E
Guilty! Love that album (does not like "Most Toys")I think that "A Voice From The Past" is one of their best songs (I Love that song!)

Heh, I quite like 'Most Toys' as well. although it doesn't really sound like a Marillion track, its still great fun.

Aaah, that's the nature of a live performance. I'm sure Pete moved on pretty quickly. When the fellows I used to work with would hit a bum note or section, I would just consider it a "jazz" improv !  Pretty funny at times I can tell you.

I'm glad it's back here in MTL for obvious reasons, and yeah, Vegas would have been a drag. Pretty good alternate cities would have been NYC or Chicago though.

Yes, I quite like the entire album as well. Not as epic sounding as "Brave", "Sunlight", "Marbles" or "Happiness", but just a good collection of tracks, so it was certainly a nice addition to the Marillion catalogue.

I ordered mine a few nights ago; however, Matt Cohen told me on MOLF that they have to wait for a new batch of discs from the manufacturer. Looking forward to it, though.

Good morning Brasileia !   Steve has two Orchestral Classical albums,  Midsummer Night's Dream , and Metamorpheus. ( Steve on Classical Guitar + full Orchestra ). As well there are three albums that a pretty much solo classical guitar, Bay of Kings, Momentum, and Tribute. His lightest fare is the Sketches Of Satie CD he did with his Brother John on flute.  My favourite from all of these is Metamorpheus.
Enjoy.

Thanks, Steve, I'll try to get my hands on Midsummer Night's Dream and Metamorpheus (I love the classicsTongue).

Well, I haven´t been able to purchase one of those CD´s, but I have listened to Midsummer Night´s Dream - a friend of mine owns a copy - and I quite liked it, but - from that single listen - I didn't like it enough to spend money on it, money I now save for the Marillion WeekendBig smile (which is quite a lot for an eighteen-year-old who hasn't got a job!).

I think "Most Toys" is the "Punch and Judy" of the h-era and it is a good song; I prefer Punch and Judy, though.

Well, at 18 I'm glad you are listening to this music, because not all people do these days. It's nice to see younger generations being interested. Save your money for the convention, because it will be a great experience for you.  Marillion are a fine band to be a fan of, and I hope they continue for many years so you can continue to follow their development as musicians and artists. If you stick with music as a hobby, then  your scope of interest in it should expand as you age, and you will probably be surprised where it leads you.  Bach ? Berlioz ? Coltrane ?  Dylan ?  who knows.

Real tears for Sale video now up to see, it popped up on the sidebar when watching last episode of ask the band.

Las Vegas sucks,  much happier going to Montreal even though it's farther,  Vancouver BC wound be nice for me.

Steve Hackett's orchestral stuff is good,  but I prefer Bay of Kings.

Ready to but ticket for Montreal when it goes on sale,  what's the tally on how many of Round Table members will be there?

I SOO can't wait until Out Of Season! Seems like it's taking forever. I had the day off yesterday and watched the Snow De Cologne DVD. What a nice present that was from The WebUK.

Hi Kenmar !   I live in Montreal, so it's an easy one for me. I think we have a great city, and there are many things to see and do around town. It's a pretty safe place also, so most people will feel comfortable walking almost anywhere around town ( I guess I'm biased, but I really appreciate where we are and know how lucky  us Quebecois are). Vancouver would be fun too though...maybe 2013 ?    Ticket are expected on sale next week  for L'Olympia from what I've heard.

Eric, I'll have to watch "Snow De Cologne"....I have it a once over when it came in last year, but I had sort of forgotten about it. Thanks for the reminder.

Haha, well, I'm not very openminded to music in the way that I dislike top-40 music or rap, R&B, etc. I love prog (well most sub-genres, at least) and I tend to go to a classical orchestral concert about twice a year (however, I don't really listen to classical music on CD). And that's about it, I think, you're right about letting music grow on you over time as I grow upSmile Thanks, it's nice to be able to talk with people, who love the, as far as I'm concerned, Ultimates in (prog-)music - Marillion indeed are fantastic, long live they!Clap

I think you'll like Montreal, Kenmar. The language barrier wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I don't speak a lick of french, but (for the most part) the locals would make that switch if they saw you didn't speak the language. But there certainly is a charm to Montreal.

Sorry, Steve, but I HATE your airport. Once you've flown in and out of Kansas City's airport, you'll see there's no airport that tops it in convenience. I'm definitely spoiled. Just be prepared to do a lot of walking once in Montreal's airport, Kenmar. Big smile

I think next time I'll try to get into the downtown area a bit more. I got a little taste of it on Friday when we went to the meet and greet at Brutopia, but that was about it. Saturday I just hung out and recovered while my friends went to the John Lennon exhibit, and Sunday we were bussed out to a maple syrup farm called The Sugar Shack for an amazing brunch and a tour.

Yeah Eric, you are right. The Montreal International airport sucks as far as getting around it is concerned. The domestic Canadian gates are actually near the front, so they are not too difficuly to get to, but some of the international gates are way out and can be quite a tedious trip.
We'll certainly get you into the cental downtown areas a bit more next time, and perhaps even down to Old Montreal. It's quite nice there as well.

I've been out of touch with the round table for a few weeks () but I thought I'd drop in with some fantastic quotes from Steve Hogarth:

'We tried having a manager and a major label. They ended up with all the money. The fans were the only people we could trust. And the only people who understand us and truly value us.'

'There's two kinds of people in this world - those who talk about stuff and people who do stuff, and our fans are the latter.'

And also say that I've really started to enjoy the 3 Fish albums I picked up. Although its sad that he left Marillion, the two artists who we ended up with are still absolutely amazing!

You are absolutely right! I love Fish solo as much as I love Marillion, which ablums did you get from Fish? Raingods, Sunsets and Vigil? Anyway, it's all amazing! What're your favourite songs from Fish solo?
