Cardiacs, they play prog punk (they even used to call their music pronk...)
No, Tim Smith used to describe Cardiacs' music as "psychedelic" or  "pop".

I found this while browsing wikipedia :

Pronk, or "progressive punk", a very specific and complex sounding music genre invented by renowned singer-songwriter Tim Smith of Cardiacs also used to describe bands such as Silvery, The Display Team, Little Trophy, The Scaramanga Six, Kotúče DM.

I don't know either of the bands cited, if they are in the same league as Cardiacs I need to discover them urgently !

Nothing is in the same league as Cardiacs! I've heard a few of them wot's listed there, though. I picked up Silvery's album recently. They're dead good but rather poppy. They're more akin to Sparks than Cardiacs in some ways. The Display Team (formerly Mumrah) are basically ska-prog. Imagine a ska-pop band doing an impression of Gentle Giant with Cardiacs-esque chord progressions and you're basically there. Fun, but kinda hollow and contrived. Little Trophy sound very much like early Cardiacs with added screamo vocals for some reason. Ermm I checked out Scaramanga Six 'cause Tim Smith produced some of their stuff but it did nothing for me. Melancholy wall-of-noise alt rock type stuff. Never heard of the last one.

Depending on the crowd you hang out with...

Just gimme some Clash.  Naw, they're not prog, but they're surely eclectic.
Can you tell me where we're headin'?
Lincoln County Road or Armageddon.

I never post anything anywhere without doing more than basic research, often in depth.

You know it! In fact Jaz Coleman claimed that he had to sack Paul Ferguson and Raven before recording Outside the Gate because 'You cant make progressive music with a punk rhthym section' I'm surprised they ever worked with him again. I'm glad they did.

'Brighter than a Thousand Suns' is also quite a 'proggy' album in places.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Inde$troy by Saw Throat is a grindcore crustpunk concept album that might qualify.
"The disgusting stink of a too-loud electric guitar.... Now, that's my idea of a good time."
