Well, if it would quite being moved to the 'compilations' section and be left alone in the 'studio albums' section where it belongs, people would actually see it, and quite uploading it.
The content on that album wasn't taken from previous releases, and the songs WERE taken from a studio session by Hendrix that are unique to this release. So it's a studio album.

I like your reasoning on that Micah, even if the idea of a post-humus studio album is a little creepy.

I thought long before adding Hendrix under compilations ( to be honest, I added it first under studio albums, but than transfered). I believe that label would like to see it as studio one, in fact all the marketing is done as this. But in real life there are all but one slightly different versions of previously released songs ( so one really new could be counted as "bonus"), and nothing was recorded specially for this album.

So, I decided it's more true compilation, than studio one ( we understand that no one never worked in studio to record material FOR this album). But doesn't matter, this, firstly added version has firs review as well,so it should stay. It's not a big deal just to transfer it into studio albums (if).

The fact that it is released under the guidance of Experience Hendrix adds much to it's credibility as basically this collection of family, friends and philanthropist lawyers are in charge of Jimi's legacy from a legal point of view, and for once that legacy is in the hands of the right people.

I'd say it is a legitimate post-humus studio release.

Yeah, sorry, I wasn't trying to call anybody out specifically (I didn't even look to see who added it first). I just figured since it's a studio album in the record label's eyes, it might as well be put there so that people will see it immediately, and hopefully will realize they don't need to add it. Wink

Their latest album The Whirlwind has also a Limited Edition version so should it be added as well?

^ I've never understood that, either. The same thing has been done with Henry Cow's reissues. It's basically an excuse for us to boost our reviews number by simply reviewing the same album twice (one review per version). While I do enjoy that quite a bit, it makes for some confused newcomers, I'm sure.

Thank you for your response!
I completely agree with you on Henry Cow reissues as well. Just like with Transatlantic albums those were also added back-to-back which, together with the lack of any info on the issue, would suggest that this whole discussion has been taken up before. In that case, could somebody please guide me to that forum topic.
Otherwise I will have to start adding all the Special Edition versions of Dream Theater/Transatlantic etc. just to see what happens. LOL

These are the same. While the first one could be deleted, the second needs additional info.

I'm not sure that this entry should be listed as a studio album:

There are Europe/US versions of the same album, stated as separate albums. Cover picture and album's name is the same, all difference is in track list. I believe original (UK) release could stay, with information about US release and US track list inside of it (it was done yet before). Happily, US release has no reviews.

It is an old discussion LOL

IMO, 1972 release was kind of bootleg (or specific limited edition), and all re-releases circulated mostly in form of different bootlegs as well. (Some info about this release is placed on its page on PA).

According to David Bowie official site, which should be counted as serious source, the first official release of this concert is next one, you mention. So - it still exists on PA as you see

Thanks for the info and fast response! Thumbs Up
In that case I guess it makes sense to keep both.

There are reviews for both, it won't be easy case this time.
There's a point where "avant-garde" and "experimental" becomes "terrible" and "pointless,"
