Merci is good! A highly underrated album even if it is Magma's worst.

Agreed, but I still think she'd probably do better to hold off on it until after other stuff (unless she gets lucky and finds the box set for a good price. Wink).

LOL Actually I was thanking Lucas in French for the welcome. Completely forgot about that Magma studio album!

Greg, you know I love you from the bottom of my stomach.  But this was epic fail. Tongue

Anyway, Lizzy, I'm glad you are here, and would like to give you a serious recommendation from a symphonic rock nut (and, as was made plain, Kansas fanboy):

Echolyn has become one of my favorite bands ever (Mei, Cowboy Poems Free, and The End is Beautiful are masterpieces).

Okay, don't laugh. But Power has a very high sentimental meaning for me, as it was the first  rock album I started listening from my personal initiative. Of course there is Leftoverture, Point of Know Return and even Vinyl Confessions (John has such beautiful vocals, and there are also 3 track with Rrrroger Taylor on backing vocals! Yum!); but as I said Power means a lot to me. It's one of those things that change your life. :P

My favorite album from Kansas isn't that highly regarded either: Somewhere to Elsewhere.  That's my second favorite album of all time.

My first is Tales from Topographic Oceans- greatest album ever made.

Yes, it's a GOOD album (I don't judge music by its level of "progressiveness"), lots of great melodies. "We're not alone anymore" features a monstruous solo by  the other Steve. So you are probably aware of the band Streets ?

The highest is 10, you can sort threads by number of replies. This one is getting close to the top though.

Great call, and I have to say I think "Taking in the View" is a better song than "Dust in the Wind."

There is.  I've learned more about interesting music to listen to from this site in a day than I had in a year or more before I found it.
