I couldnt find the Les Discrets, but their myspace stuff sounded awesome!

Listening to new Alcest now. The ending to the second song is drop dead beautiful. This may be a masterpiece.

Just got All is Violent, All is Bright by God is an Astronaut. My first venture into post rock, and I quite like it. Surprised/annoyed by the poppiness of the drums in places, but overall it's great.

^ I really dig GIAA; even though i like "All is Violent..." i wouldn't have recommended that album to begin with.

Actually, the percussionist of GIAA is one of the percussionists i admire most in post-rock; i suggest checking out the "Far from Refuge" album for some kick ass drumming.

If you don't mind sharing some examples of the bands/music you like already, i might be able to make some decent recommendations.

....Also, while we're on the subject of GIAA, anyone else feel that their guitarist is waaay to lenient on himself when it comes to reusing alot same rhythms/melodies between compositions. (and even albums for pity's sake...)

Dude, suicide by star and No Return are also excellent example. GIAA's drummer s amongst the best in keeping it tight, but not boring.

Couldnt find a good grip on Jonsi's newest, but I LOVE the new Alcest, and while the vocals are a little too emotionless, Les Discrets is awesome!

Sure.. I don't have a massive range of bands yet (only found prog and rock a year and a half ago) but it's fairly eclectic- Muse, The Mars Volta, Karnivool, Yes, Pink Floyd, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, IQ, Beardfish, Transatlantic, most classical (especially Romantic era), most jazz.

I reckon post rock with a heavier classical influence, or jazz, would be quite interesting.

Dont take this personally, but all the groups you mentioned are relatively under the prog umbrella... Words like eclectic arent what I'd use.

Post rock with a heavy classical influence would be Worlds end girlfriend, Rachels, Godspeed you! black Emperor, and maybe even Sigur ros.

Post rock with jazz influences are a little harder to find, but look at the Samuel Jackson Five, and their album Easily misunderstood.

Flies Are Spies From Hell added to PA. Excellent uplifting piano-led post rock, fans of 65daysofstatic will love this.
