i am glad to hear this from the older prog fan. There are many great post rock bands out there. Here are few suggestions of mine: Mono - Hymn To The Immortal Wind / You are there Daturah - Daturah Caspian - The Four Trees The Evpatoria Report - Golevka The Autumn Project - This we take with us Long Distance Calling - Avoid The Light @Synchestra, God Speed You! Black Emperor didn't split, the band announced an indefinite hiatus..i hope they will start making some music again..

Synchestra, have you heard Jakob, being a Kiwi band and all. They are the opener for Isis on their latest tour.

Also, pick up anything and everything you don't have from Godspeed, I've yet to hear a dissapointing album from them. And probably never will as they broke up

Ok so you know that old fairy tale about how older prog-heads don't listen to or like post rock...it's a lie. I'm 48, I listen to it and I love it. However, to be honest, I didn't start listening to it really until about a year ago. Now I'm loving it. In fact, I bought the vinyl for Godspeed You! Black Emperor "Slow Riot for New Zero Kanada" just a few weeks ago. It always sounds best on vinyl. Some of the bands I've found that I like are GY!BE, A Silver Mt. Zion, Sigur Ros, Mogwai, Kayo Dot, Russian Circles, Sunn 0))), Red Sparrowes, Baroness, Yndi Halda and I'm finding that I tend to like more and more bands all the time. Anyone got the names to any other great artists out there that I might like based on the above list?

^ A guitar solo in post-rock? You've got to be kidding!
So finally I have the time I need and peace of mind, I'll be doing the Semiosis biography today. |

Dudez, check out the American dollar. I just got their debut album, and the best word I can use to describe it is blissful! One of the songs features a scarcity rarely found in the genre... A guitar solo!!!

^^ Hi Harry, i haven't noticed you here for a while, everything is just fine here..we keep this thread going, updating database with new acts, as far as post rock scene is concerned i haven't spotted some spactacular release so far this year, well it's rather early .. The new Album leaf is great,if you are into electronic/ambient side of post rock; new The Silver Mt. Zion is good also. Debut album by I Hear Sirens is quite good.

It wasn't 100% accurate, like a few spoken word parts were missing due to practical playability reasons, but it retained the sound of the album....The Manifold Curiosity was as intense as I'd hoped it would be, they had the dynamic contrast down. The screams sounded a little different at points but they were more menacing than the ones on the actual album |

^ I normally disregard any personal advertising on these boards, (we do have a section for self promotion: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=48 )but thanks for sharing your creations. I usually try to be modest when suggesting/recommending music, (if you happened to have seen my post above) but seriously, you fellas are some genuine and amazing composers. In my observations, super dynamic rhythms and melodies can be a bit abrasive to casual/hardly interested in music admirers, but i wouldn't change a thing on "Immeasurable".
Anyways, if you're a fan of "post" or "prog" rock, stick around. It's always nice to see more input on these forums.
Yay!
Well, i'll try and salvage some info. I truly appreciate the invite regarding joining the team, although i feel almost unworthy considering that i haven't submitted any reviews. (it's really kinda silly, i appreciate reading others reviews, but when it comes to myself, i'm so critical of my own writing that i never consider my own attempts "complete" enough to be worth submitting) Edited by Dominic - February 09 2010 at 23:55 |

thanks to those who listened to Immeasurable! Concentric is in the process of being approved by ProgArchives, but in the meantime i wanted to give those who are willing to listen a link to a free download of the entire record. you can access it here:
http://www.mediafire.com/file/nfjzyy5jnmn/Concentric-Immeasurable-Unsigned.zip I would like to make a thread about the band and post this link on the forum, but im unsure which part of the forum to use, if anyone could give advice. anyway thanks for listening, and if you take the time to, please let me know what you think! jerry/concentric |

^ Wow, sounds pretty good so far, (i've become such a freak lately that it actually feels weird to listen to an actual song with vocals) although their Myspace is wiping the floor with my browser. Some people just go to far with the silly design crap
EDIT: So, i just noticed that i was listening to Precambrian. Anyways, it's new to me, and sounds darn good. Edited by Dominic - February 07 2010 at 23:09 |
